Reyane et Pascal Bouley Volnay 1er Cru Champans

Opened an hour in advance. Deep ruby. Charcoal and black fruit. Light, very saline, serious dark fruit, tart and lean. Then the deep vein of soil kicks in and carries through to the moderately tannic finish. This is young and very Volnay but not as fleshy as other Champans I've had. Excellent wine.

Disappointing on day 1. Closed. Balance towards acidic. Better after an hour in decanter. Day 2 opened, red fruit more in evidence. ***
