Toasty oak on the nose, vanilla, dark cherries, liquorice, cloves. Sweet fruit, lots of American oak, some fragrance here. It’s a fairly basic rioja but there’s a freshness tha t lifts it above th usual. Oak is a little disjointed but it’s hard to argue with this for £9 a bottle.
