Recommended by the sommelier @ Brennan’s in place of a Shafer 1.5 no longer available. This was all leather and dark chocolate upon opening and after a 30 min decant it evolved into a powerful but elegant Cab with everything in balance. Continued to open up throughout the meal and paired well with tableside steak Diane and seared duck breast. Great value.

Great Diamond Mountain wine; needs some air to shift the fruit from a tighter red to a more open purple fruit. DM terroir unfolds after thirty minutes and cigsr box starts to show up. Solid wine especially for the price.

Really enjoyed this as a PnP but would have been better with decanting. Drinks beautifully at open and is a mid to heavy weight dark fruit and Diamond mountain schist that complement one another so well. Balanced with some tertiary notes developing think more mushrooms than forest floor. Great wine with a good future as well. I think the sweet spot is another 5-7 years.

Drinking very well despite its age. This was well stored at 56 degrees essentially from the day I took possession. Anyhow, evolved, balanced, integrated, lengthy, what can happen in California when good wines are made

Rich, syrupy, heavy body. Full flavor needs air but broadens, long finish, deep, pudding, yet one dimensional - heat, heavy like port at 15.7. For the price not very imaginative. It probably needs to decant for several days.

I don't know how this wine continues to be rated so low. Yes, I love buying it at $85 a bottle, but this has won out in blind taste tests against 98+ RP wines. The more impressive accomplishment, IMO, is how consistent this wine is year after year - I have never had an AG that I'd rate less than 94 points, and that includes the 2011 which was a notoriously bad year in Napa. Beautiful black fruit and oak aromas followed by a full-bodied blast of black cherry and plum flavors with a touch of minty licorice! Layered and full of alcohol. Recommend a 2-hour decant of don’t touch it for another 3-5 years.

Rich, dark and concentrated cab, typical for AG wines. Needed a little time to open up, but packs a lot of fruit, with long velvety finish.

Should've been great. Disappointing next to the Jarvis. Still tight upon opening but a sour tasting note on the finish suggested some damage or too many years. I'm hoping the former. No great wines, only great bottles. Light red fruit a la raspberry strawberry dominated the palate prior to tannins sucking all the air from my mouth. Gonna open the next bottle and the '03 soon.

Very dark, with velvety texture and nice overall balance. Tannins still prominent and should improve with age, but this has a rich fruit profile that is a joy to taste. Recommend decanting or opening well in advance.

Double decanted just prior to leaving for dinner and decanted there. Opened up beautifully ove rte first hour or so. It is certainly a big wine, but the initial tannin structure and acidity balanced it out. Mature new world beauty. The only downside for me was that as we reached the later stages of the night, the structure and backbone of this wine became overwhelmed with the huge black fruits, chocolate and vanilla notes. Best wine of the night up against Far Niente 01, Keenan 01, Stags Leap 90 Merlot and Peter Michael Pavot 05. Integrated flavors with dark blue and black fruits still giving a nuanced appearance. Chocolate hint backed by very smooth texture and structure. This small producer makes consistently good wines...in spite of fact he is a USC grad.

Kemp's 65th including some 1945 wines. : A wine I have had before and this wass a nice showing. The nose has some funk, cassis and tobacco. It is oft on the palate with lots of tannins, but it somehow manages to unwind a bit in the glass. I don't think it gets better from here, so I would drink up.

Deep garnet, nose of pencil lead, lilac, cassis, scorched Earth, raspberry, strawberry jam. Intensely earthy, slight touch of Bret but by no means faulted. Drank more like a 4 year-old Bordeaux than an 8 year-old Cali. Smokin' hot!

Delicious and soft Cab. Dark fruit,with Plum and black currants,hints of coca. Excellent balance with focus on the soft tannins. Smooth and silk finish. Decanted 1 1/2 hours. Drink now.

Popped and poured. Translucent purple. Nose of cedar, smoke and earth. Medium body. Lovely dark fruit and minerals. Pleasing acidity. Long finish. Plump tannins. Nice balance and focus. Drinking well now, but still seems young. Should age for years. Wish I had more bottles.

Unfortunately this bottle started to turn (my fault) and I was forced to drink now...too bad as it would have developed nicely. Plum, smooth, light tannin, light mineral....drinks well now but will be better in the next two years.

Even though it was a little young it was still a great bottle of wine. After some time the flavors came out. Tobacco, spice, berry fruit. Luscious splendor, each taste is a chance to travel to a distant beautiful place where time seems to stand still as the taste echoes on your palate. Great wine!!! This is the third bottle I have had. The first was amazing the second was disappointing. So I was eager to try it again. A lot going on in this wine. Earthy currant, cedar and coffee. Wow. Cedar, tobacco, dark berry. Drank wonderfully upon opening but showed enough tannins to cellar for a few years plus. A couple of days after opening the fruit faded a bit and the spices stood out, but it was still drinking very nicely.
