My last bottle of this, and just in time. The nose features aromas of blackberry, black currant, black plum, blueberry, violet, and Chinese five spice. Medium bodied, the tannins are resolved and the acid smooth. This is perfectly seamless and integrated. It has a slightly velvety feel around the edges. The palate is raging blood and guts with flavors of iron, salted plum, blueberry, chalky wet soil minerality, and sea bean. There are touches of blood orange and flint on …

Nose features sweet aromas of black cherry, blackberry, prune, Vegemite, and Full bodied and fully integrated with juicy acid and tannin that’s only evidenced by its lack of absence. The flavor profile offers black cherry, blackberry, spiced plum sauce, semi-bitter sweet tea, and Herbs de Provence. There is a really nice juxtaposition of sweet and savory elements. Given the indiscernible tannins, I think this has reached peak structure and doubt it has anywhere to go but downhill. Rejoice with this …

a similar, maybe better showing than a bottle about 8 months ago. Drinking well, with this one I didn't note any undo heat on the finish..92-3 pts

popped and poured. This was drinking very well from opening, but the last sips 4 hours later were the best. Aromatically expressive, on the palate, more savory than fruity, with some pepper and dark fruit. Lengthy finish, where some alcoholic heat does come to the fore. (it's certainly there, but not particularly off-putting) This seems ready, and should hold, and possibly improve for a few years.

Good nose, deep color typical of Syrah. Some funk mid to late palette, but not excessive. Day 2 had the funk even more reduced, enjoyable wine.

Deep ruby red with lighter edges. A bit savory and meaty on the nose with cherries, olives and white pepper. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium bodied. Minerality on the palate with black and white pepper, dark berries, black olives and dark spices. Long finish. Drink till 2026.

This was a really fantastic expression of The Rocks. Popped and poured, and it was meaty right out of the gate. Opened up nicely after about an hour. Would never have guessed it was a Syrah, as has been mentioned.

Friends and I tasted this at Full Pull on 10/14/17. It had a rich, powerful bouquet of smoked meat, plum, blackberry, orange blossom, black olive and spice aromas. The palate was rich, powerful and refined with flavors that followed the nose. 92+

Mid-priced Rocks Syrah Tasting (T&A's House, Seattle, WA) : Decanted for 2 hours and tasted blind. Slightly cloudy and red-garnet in the glass. Slightly advanced seeming bouquet, violets, smoked meats and charcuterie, cherry pastilles/grenadine and serious dill pickles coupled with the red hue in the glass had me thinking Grenache or Grenache-Mourvedre. Definitely an interesting nose, turned some at the table off, but I like unique. Nice acidic backbone on the palate and some med- tannin keep it fresh, seamless …
