Blind Champagne Tasting (Basanti in San Juan Capistrano, CA (South OC)) : 2007 base with some portion of reserves. Disgorged September 2014. This has the 33% blending parts of Meunier, Noir and Chard. When I first tasted this, something seemed off, with a sour note in the finish. With a little more time, the TCA emerged and that was it for tasting any more if it. Kind of an old bottle and would have been cool to taste, especially with …

2007 base, disgorged 2013. This is just gorgeous. Round and fine with a crisp acidic rake on the finish. Great complexity with flavours of stewed apples and almond croissants. Gutsy but flattering. Drink now.

Fine Wines SG - Champagne BYO (Fine Wines SG) : Pale lemon, silvery sheen, and quite brilliant. Firm yeasty aromas, florals, and a slight bit of nuts and caramel. There seems to be a hint of sweetness, and a ripe candied peach flavour. Fair length

Sehr gut als Schaumwein und nach zwei Stunden an Luft und Wärme als Wein fantastisch. Was will der Genussmensch mehr?

Drank over a lazy Sunday afternoon. Distinctly 'Sherbert Lemons' boiled sweets colour. Nose is 'fresh from the oven' granary bread. Palate is very Epsom Salts initial attack backed by a Pinot-dominated backbone. Refreshing to the point of being bracing.....like standing in front of a strong sea breeze. Good Chardonnay-dominated length. Is very low dosage but not anorexic. I actually enjoyed drinking this on its own but I can see why others might prefer it with food. Brilliant QPR.....I actually preferred …

June in Champagne; 6/11/2018-6/16/2018 : 70 year old vines. 50/50 chardonnay and pinot noir. More honey than the other wines. I'd wade like a bear into the bees nest for this. Better and better with air in the glass. Balance, purity, focus. This is good stuff.

2007 base, disgorged 2008. This is in a rich and bready stage with plenty of autolytic character. One to get your teeth into and really does need food.

Hard to fault, this the 2017 release based on 2000/99/98/97/96 wines. Rich biscuity nose, fine and subtle mouse (not aggressive - remember this has in bottle for 15 years before release!), long and mouth filling complexity. Like mature burgundy with gentle bubbles. Very reminisent of Krug GC. May not offer the same brand appeal or a fancy box, but excellent value if you like your champagne with age.

Not as full, rich or round as I remember. Thinking it actually needed more time open to truly show itself.

Drinking a bit later than intended so was a little apprehensive but it's really nice. Dry but just the right amount of sweetness coming through. Lovely golden hue. No regrets on waiting.

Dark color - very different from the Comtes I tried with it. Showing the age and the sightly oxidative character. A nice champagne, but I probably would not rebuy.

A very fine entry level champagne. Balanced and integrated with decent tension in the acidity without being aggressive. I'll be buying some more....

Big and rich and roasty. Big and toasty but very refined on the palate as well.

At Kitchen W8. Light orange colour with quite lovely bubbles. Complex nose of yeast, creamy strawberry, blood orange and hints of hay. The palate is quite Chardonnay driven with notes of peach accompanying the strawberry, the low dosage is very obvious. Over time a slight coffee note appears on the finish. Good but perhaps not my favourite style. ***

In the nose: jod, sea breeze, minerality, pear, citrus, herbs, red currant, in the palate powerful, a lot of fresh acidity, Feels like BdB and extra brut, extracr sweetness, granny smith sorbet, long finish, very fresh, needs time, rounder in 3-5 years

Grower Champagne Tasting, Individual Expressions of Champagne (IMW) (Trinity House, London) : Equal proportions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, harvested from Oeuilly, Vallee de la Marne, first fermentation in oak with no malolactic, oak maturation from harvest to April, bottle ageing 14 years. This is based (85%) in 1999 vintage and the rest from 1998, 1997 and 1996. The nose is clean with medium intensity, showing complexity with a nicely developed character, ripe citrus and apple, vanilla, lightly jammy and …

Tasted at cellar with Benoit Tarlant. Said this cuvee has been bottled but have yet to be released, maybe in 6 months. 45% Pinot Noir, 28% Chardonnay, 27% Pinot Meunier. Zero dosage. Nice nose of yeast, honey, light green & red apples and citrus. The palate was quite interesting. There were elements of chalkiness and stoney minerals alongside cream, brioche and biscuit. Quite a long length. I would have bought several cases if not for the fact it has yet …

I really enjoyed this. Well cellared since release, shared with two friends, so got to sit on it and enjoy a second glass. Good structure, more acidity than I recall from 4 yrs ago, showing some interesting signs of tertiary characters coming through. Drinking well now I'd suggest, but no major rush, depends how you like your Champagne.

Disgorged November 2008. Toasty autolysis characters with musk, lemon butter and some bruised apple aromas. Good length, the acidity provide great freshness and the complexity is coming through nicely. Drink now to 5 years.

Lo Que Quiera Nat Clandestine Restaurant (Natalia's Apartment - Madrid) : Business as usual... Tasted as appetitive before a late dinner. Intoxicating yeasty nose, elegant and sweet of a luxury pastry shop. Better nose than palate anyway. Bit of acid and citric too much obvious for my taste. Overall a real class champagne. La vida sigue igual... Catado como aperitivo antes de una cena. Intoxicante nariz a levadura, de una elegante y dulce pastelería de lujo Mejor nariz que boca …

Same as previous. Would like to taste it from a different base vintage (the past 3 bottles probably were based on 2002, a big vintage). Disgorged Sept 2008. 5 years on lees.
Taster #8238 · Mar 24, 2013
Consistent with the previous bottle. Rich and powerful, honey notes with warm apple. Leesy, playful fruitiness from pinot meunier with the power of pinot noir. Char brings needed acidity. Disgorged Sept 2008.
Taster #8238 · Mar 22, 2013
Nice nose: salty, mushroom and lees. Nice balance between the richness of the champagne and its acidity. Fine and lively bubbles. Not overly complex but very enjoyable with a little bit of age. A blend of pinot noir (50%), pinot meunier and chard. 5 years on lees, disgorged 2008.

From half bottle. This has a very appealing nose of stewed apples, almonds and glacé cherries - warm, autumnal and inviting. A deep yellow colour hints at the evolution which duly arrives as genteel bready, mushroomy nuances on the palate and finish. The palate is rich, almost oily, and shows more lovely, seductive orchard fruits. Probably best with food - garlic snails, I would contend with no small amount of pomposity. It feels uncharitable to criticise a wine so effortlessly …

Giallo oro, bolla finissima, naso panna poi vira subito su note di frutta dolce dall'ananas alla mela golden con cenni di albicocca, spezie dolci di sottofondo con un sentore leggermente ossidativo e minerale, si muove bene. Bocca fresca bolla fine, abbastanza sapido, finale lungo e polposo, piaciuto.

Great Recoltant Champagne, imported by Boutique wines. Aromas of powerful toast and yeast matched in freshness by cherry, citrus and floral notes. Palate is very suave with bright flavors of cherry, raspberry, lemon curd and apple. 6 g/l dosage assures that this wine is very dry, but there is an ethereal richness that makes for good contemplation. This disgorgement is 55% Pinot Noir 35% Pinot Meunier and 10% Chardonnay.

This is the most enjoyable bottle of straight pinot meunier I have ever had the pleasure to drink. Leave it to the talented Tarlant team to tame what is usually a rustic, coarse and inelegant grape into something pure and flavorful with interesting nuances of yeast (but not beer), walnut and caramel. I wouldn't want to age it for fear it will lose its freshness but for now it makes a very interesting individual glass of champagne that can be …

Bright but warm yellow color, that’s mousse fine and intense. Bouquet of seductive ripe fruits of Mirabelle, grilled almond and warm apple. The mouth opens out in remarkable liveliness and length; round and structured with hints of honey cake and caramel. (Varietals: 50% Pinot Noir, 35% Pinot Meunier, 15% Chardonnay)(ALC: 12.0%)

Flash Visit to Champagne : Good color, golden with yellow reflections and a fine mousse, the Brut Tradition features aromas of brioche and hazelnut with hints of yeast. In the mouth it has crisp acidity and good structure with a long finish. Very good and this wine definitely screams for food.
