Spot on as always, touch more peat than I remember, plum cask finish makes it sweet

Medium-dark amber/copper color. Rich nose of lemongrass, maple syrup, white pepper, oiled wood, and the faintest hint of coffee. The palate on this is smoother than either the Yamazaki or Hakushu 12 Years Old, possessing subtle woody flavors and the citric bitterness of orange zest. Little bottle from a sample set of Japanese whiskies purchased at La Maison du Whisky in Paris in 2005. 43%. One of only a few Japanese whiskies I've had. Very heavy oak flavour. Tastes indistinguishable from Scotch. Rich yet smooth (this is a blended whiskey). Toasted oak. Kind of monolithic.

Showed dominant plum notes upon opening, but they blew off with air and are now providing a floral underlining for this refined blended malt whiskey. Easy drinking and medium bodied, on the feminine side yet exhibiting a hint of charred wood on the finish. Flavors open up on the palate with watering. Nose: cereal grain with a lemony ripe (though quiet) banana. Vanilla and 'eggy' french toast (pre-syrup). Slightly off-sweet dessert. Palate: Strong grain influence on entry. Thick and honeyed. Vanilla and slight twig bark; there's a tree like quality to it. As soon as it's off the palate, there's a definite bitterness.
