Azienda Agricola Antoniolo, Gattinara, Osso San Grato

Nebbiolo, plus sur le côté masculin que féminin. Couleur grenat à peine translucide. Les arômes de cerises, de rose avec un peu d'épice et de sous-bois se prolongent en bouche. On goûte aussi le pruneau. Les tanins ne sont pas totalement fondus et l'acidité est encore vive. Le vin est de bonne longueur. Il peut attendre encore quelques années sans problèmes.

Clean with crystal garnet in the center. Nose of some balsamic notes with some bitter cherry and earthiness. On the palate it is mostly cherries and some dark stoniness and earth essence, but no tannins. Certainly ready now and for a few more years.

Agree with DNA.O’Neill’s note. Initially, rich and on the opulent/porty (relatively speaking) side for a Gattinara. Settled down with some air.

This lived up to all expectations. Very tasty and sophisticated Gattinara, now at its best. Quite a lot of bottle variation over the years, but on average the best I've tasted so far Gattinara (and I've tasted many). Unfortunately, this was the last bottle.

PnP. Fulgt over fire timer. Rubinrød, litt murstein i kanten. Floral, lyse røde bær og skinnbelte. Bra frukt i munnen, steinfrukt med litt saltaktig mineralitet. Beherskede tanniner, krydret utgang, liten touch varme. Flott nå og i skjæringen mot mer modning da siste glasset drar på med tjære og tobakk.

Gedronken over 2 dagen. Dag 1 : direct uit de kelder gedronken. Ongelooflijk tegenvallend qua geur en smaak. Eerder muf. Slechte fles? De neiging om ze gewoon weg te kappen. Slechts 1 glas gedronken en dan de stop er terug op. Dag 2 : geur is minder muf, maar zeker niet wow. Smaak is toch compleet anders. Wel veel evolutie, maar er zit weer leven in. Not bad but not as complex as I had hoped. This was a bit muddled in the middle and without the detail I'd prefer. Again, this is not a bad wine but didn't quite live up to the pedigree (believe it's Antoniolo's top wine) and came across more like a middle-of-the-road Barbaresco from a warm vintage than a top Alto Piemonte wine. While I'm sure this will hold, I don't see it improving further.

Garnet tending to brown on the edges. Resolved. Ready to drink. Classic 2007 warm but pleasant vintage. Very pleasant. I do not recall more details about this wine except that it was pretty good and traditional style.

Clear ruby center with a garnet ring, proudly showing some age. Pronounced floral tone, classic rose petals and a touch of tar. Swirling a bit surfaces earth and a sanguine/meaty note. The nose is sophisticated but the rustic quality of a Gattinara is accessible for those in the know! What a beautiful palate... harmony, balance, finesse... Ouvert 3 heures à l'avance, carafé (il y avait un peu de lies) et remis en bouteille avant le repas. Je n'avais jamais carafé ce vin et je crois que c'est ce qu'il faut faire à ce stade-ci pour atténuer l'astringence du Nebbiolo, car servi en l'état, il a davantage plu aux convives. On y décèle plus facilement la rose, l'anis, les fraises.

Un vin qui me semble sur le plateau où il est agréable: l'équilibre entre les tannins, l'acidité et le fruit est excellent. Je crois qu'il gagnera davantage avec le temps mais très bon en l'état.

Pale garnet color, faded toward the meniscus with a light touch of brown at the rim. The nose, on PnP, was a touch spirity, with deep tones of cherry liqueur, and hot stones. After just a few minutes (and no swirling) attractive earth elements appeared, followed by some balsamic, truffle and spice. First faint floral perfume but then not so sharp scent. Is fast reaching a little over ripe fruit , a little balsamic . So drink now. Will probably only be worse . The taste , however, is really good . Slightly sweet and a little salty liquorice , ripe cherries. Powerful and long aftertaste. I can see that this note differs from the ones below but bottle well stored.

During a guided tasting I hosted with a friend. Double blind. Medium garnet. Expressive nose of rose petals, strawberry, violets with tobacco. Enters the palate with great fruit and firm Nebbiolo tannins, many guessed the varietal. This is really good, combining fruit driven winemaking with traditional aromas and structure. Very good wine. Great QPR.

Tasting at home. Perfumed notes of crushed violets, rose petals, sweet dark red cherries, figs, some black tea and also some menthol. It's medium-full bodied with still pretty high tannin and high acidity. Long and complex finish. This is already irresistible but will age for many years. I will try to keep my hands off my remaining bottles for a while... Great value too!

Test bottle nro 2. Extraordinarily delicious Nebbiolo, now in it's teenage years. Very tannic, but full of promise. Can't wait to see what this will be like after 10 years in the cellar. A true statement of Nebbiolo and so much better than equally priced Barolo or Barbaresco. There are real gems to be found in northern Piemonte.

Delicious from start to finish, if a bit tannic. A hint of brown on the edge of the glass. Classic nebbiolo nose of tar and roses, but integrated and mellow, like a cedar forest. Similar in the mouth, with some vigorous tannin and a long finish. Perfect with a hearty meal, it was a pleasure to return to each glass. Could age another 5 or 10 years to integrate the tannins.

A lovely bottle of wine. Had this at an Italian wine tasting. It was the class of the evening. Bright lovely fruit with hints of violets and tar. Typical nebbiolo like flavors, good acidity. A nice food wine, too.
