Vasse Felix, Idee Fix Premier Brut, Margaret River

Pink apples, lemon, citrus, simple sparkling. Good wine but lacked the layering and oaky flavours.

Disgorged April 2024, citrus, lemon peel, creamy on the palate with fine bubbles touch of bitterness. Decent sparkling from Australia.

Visit to Vasse Felix; Very impressive lineup, we only tasted through the Premium range, however everything from the Sauvignon Blanc to the Chardonnay to the Cabernet, even the sparkling wines were well made, true to their style and the region. 100% Chardonnay, fresh, bright slightly bigger bubbles than the Brut Rose, yet still all in place and nice focus

Acrux completion dinner (Kerridge's at the Corinthia) : Chosen for Tim, over from Aus. This was strangely sour, very savoury. Not corked. Like dried limes, kaffir lime leaf. Contra decanter, wasn't getting much creaminess in the texture. Would try again in case this was an off bottle.

Currently my favourite Australian sparkling: well balanced and a surprising amount of toast given it's a blanc de blanc.

NobleRottersSydney - New South Wales (Fix, St James, Sydney) : {12%} [Gordon] Not sure I�ve ever drunk WA fizz, to be honest. Wonderful nose of sourdough and apples. The palate is certainly apple-crunchy too, ripe and fruit-driven, with little yeast character. Still medium/full in weight, but with fairly large and aggressive bubbles. Medium acidity, with a dry, crunchy, medium-length finish. Nothing wrong here that a few more years on lees wouldn�t have fixed!
