So I bought a cellar; 11/12/2022-12/31/2030 : Coravin pour with leftover shortrib. Dark in the glass, with slight bricking. Medicinal cherry, humidor on the nose, with slight metallic hint. Resolved tannins, but still nice acidity. Losing its fruit but still pretty good. 15-20 second finish. I do really like the fruity leather on the back end. Pretty good.

Was Very nervous based on previous ratings and member feedback that this wasPast its prime I think part of the saving grace was it was from a magnum and I did hold onto it a long time because it was assigned bottle from the wine maker but it had everything I was looking for for Cabernet flavor and body with enough tannins remaining to have it stand up to some really good steaks poured half the bottle through a Coravan …

Need a good 3 hour plus decant. Red berries and dark cherries and plums. A little Smoky toast, espresso, rich purple color, good earthy finish with very dry chewy tannins. Beautifully well balanced wine.

Drank with several friends, to accompany mid-evening hors d'oeuvres and small desserts. Nice nose, subdued fruit for a Napa Cab; smooth, without complexity. I was hoping for a little more but perhaps I waited too long. I have another bottle which I will open this Fall.

Opened up after about 30 min in the glass, seems reasonably mature. Deep ruby garnet with a tinge of brown coloration. Nose doesn't have much character, got some spice and dark fruit. Palate had caramel, earthy, still big chewy tannin and cocoa, spice, long slightly tannic finish, drink now its definitely not going to get better.

Smooth tannins, nice finish. Dark ruby in color. No sediments. Drinking better than I had anticipated for a 2003 but a little lacking in character. I'd drink now, unlikely it will get better with any more aging.

The longer I have waited with this 2000 the better it has gotten. Tried it again last night and it was just amazingly good. Plenty of the napa fruit left, but oh so much texture and character and silky smooth finish. This has become a beautifully mature wine worth waiting for.

Winery Club Review: This wine combines richness and concentration with an incredible sense of elegance and finesse. The layers of blackberry, anise, and cassis with just the right amount of toast create a wonderful aroma. Copiously flavored with black currant, truffle, black raspberry with espresso, this wine becomes more complex as it slowly opens up. The finish firms up nicely with ripe round tannins that give it a concentrated and well-focused core of fruit. Drink Now until 2015.

I've been trying a bottle of the 2000 Dollarhide each year for the past 4 years.....and NOW is the time! This wine is at its peak of integration. Beautiful layered fruit, soft tannins, earth, cedar, dark berries and a long finish. Really a great Napa cab now.

nice aged napa cab, but enjoyed 2000 Whitehall Lane Reserve more the night before. Decanted 1 hour. Went great with prime rib and veal chop. Full bodied with initial notes of cherry, blackberry and walnut. Very little finish. Didn't seem to open up any more at the 2 hour mark, but seemed a little more sour, dry and the tobacco & leather finally appeared with desert of fruit.

Initially dry & tannic with lots of oak showing; after a short while blackberry and black cherry fruit shows through on a large scale as the oak moves into the background; bold, explosive and somewhat over the top fruit and alcohol, but remains balanced and I thought it was great.

Lovely deep color just tinged with garnet at the rim. Very leggy. Slightly caustic nose of oak, mineral, cherry, with an occasional passing whiff of soiled diaper. Very hot on the palate, with a short and slighly rusty finish. Rapidly grew disjointed and harsh with air. Possibly an abused bottle, although this was shipped from the winery. Or possibly just over the hill. I wish I had tasted this 5 years ago. Chez DKD with pizza, and Olympic curling on …

Ripe currant, black cherry, pepper, solid oak and cedar notes, tight tanins tend to overpower so decant is essential or several hours on the opening. I will look forward to a long hold on this one, the fruit is solid enough for the wait.
