Sherry Masterclass (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street) : Hello old friend, dried fruits, very slight chocolate, citrus, almonds, walnuts, sweet spice, marzipan, very slight wood glue. Juicy, tangy, saline, dried fruits, a little almost coffee note, textured burr, the nose is better than the palate but this is still very pleasant.

After three weeks of mostly chardonnay and pinot noir this was the first thing under flor (with the exception of the crittenden cri du couer or whatever it was) and it was wonderful to become reacquainted with an old friend. Lovely umami, nuts, figs, saline, pretty much perfect with some stuffed olives and toasted mixed nuts. As usual I find myself wondering why I don't just have more of this in the cellar...

Golden brown. Incredibly complex and almost painfully intense. Softens a little with air. Caramel, orange peel, grapefruit, furniture polish, and on and on. Good acidity. Very long. Outstanding wine. Not for the faint hearted though.

Sherry is so reliable, and this one also delivered. Nose is delightfully ambiguous, with lots of caramelly toasty richness but an undercurrent of austerity. Saline and complex on the palate - furniture, roast nuts, cocoa, fenugreek, celery - and has just the right amount of acidity. Really drinkable even though it's 21.5%.

Nut brown. Med+ intense nose. Dry, full-body, round, rich, creamy, very intense. Great complexity. Like a warm and soft cover served w. a hard punch. Endless and relentless finish. Not a pleaser. Wow. Drink. My notes: Orange liqueur, vanilla fudge, almond extract, marzipan, butterscotch, Armagnac, gasolina, shoyu, zesty bitterness and something burned.

Concentrated on the nose after the Solera. I pick a touch of apple, to go with spice, almost maderised notes, almonds and walnuts, getting a little citrus - kind of orange and lemon here - and oxidised notes. It's juicy, rich, dense, textured, savoury, umami, nuts, long, finishes almost smoky, glorious...absolutely glorious.

sweet rum-like notes on the nose, some brown sugar rich and textured on the palate, some times it tastes sweet and sometimes dry, changes in the glass, though it is bone dry. Hazlenuts on the finish Very good

very rich nose, almost like Xmas cake, raisins and other dried fruits Very very dry, raspingly dry, so intense, dried fruit and nuts Seriously long with a salty finish This is so concentrated it's actually quite hard to drink Has the air of a disapproving aunt.

Too sweet to drink, but excellent on vanilla ice cream.

very good but not as complex as some amontillados and palo cortados -- for the price expected more.

Rixh brown colour. Slightly sweet, incredibly intense salty/almost tarry flavour. Impressive but almost too intense for my taste.

Terrific nose and length. Full flavoured, dry and structured.

Honestly this is not my style, Sherry speaking. I can understand little drops of PX inside cause give some honeyed texture and more complexity but to built a complete branch of a new thing based in that is to go to far for me. Anyway Romate is so much good that even this elixir for those lunches of middle aged british ladies, is pure and more than a pure curiosity. Dark brownish colour for a delicated sweet nose with a …

Butterscotch / orange hue. Very powerful and a match for any food. Nose of brown sugar, but not at all sweet. Very dry, almost too acid on it's own. Depth of hazelnut, flor and truffle. Very powerful.
