Plantaze Vranac

Curious about this wine. Old Montenegrian. Before it was oaky. Now it had kept its fruit, smooth silky tannins. Surprising fresch. Can well stay in cellar some years more.

Last bottle in an original buy of 12 bottles in 2011. Last 2 were flawed, with heavy sediment (crusting on bottle) and sour taste. Great wine if you want an old world taste on the cheap. However, this one isn't meant to age, so I would finish any remaining.

Previous year vintage was better, as was the standard Vranac, but for under $10 a nice wine.

The nose showed toasty oak with sweet blackberry and undergrowth. On the palate, I found sour cranberry, menthol and green foliage but a wave of acidity stopped and further flavor development and left this tasting sour and short.
