Delicious, but def getting a bit faint. I would recommend enjoying on its own or with something very simple. Nose is weak but the advanced age makes it smell almost like Sauternes, and the tasting notes below are similar of course without the sweetness. Subtly layered with nuts, honey, and some citrus. Acid is weakening, but alive and it combines w the savoriness of the nuttiness and subtle funk to feel like soft balsamic vinaigrette in the background. Slightest hint …

Limes on the nose, so pure Very pure on the palate, rapier-like! Tangy! Spice here too, a creamy texture. Very long. Really superb wine.

2013 Snake Theme & Valentine Day (45CR) : Pronounced nose intensity with notes of toast, biscuit, yeast, lemon, grapefruit, apple, pear. High acidity. The wine is of outstanding quality. The champange will improve and develop into tertiary notes. Long finish. Wine is suitable for bottle ageing and the fruit concentration will improve in bottle.

Really nice! Very intense nose of lemon, biscuits and honey - classic style. Very well balanced and again, quite intense on the palate - just a lot of everything. No hurry to drink and this should improve further. Need to find more!

Rich, broad, and rather open. This is pretty classic and in the style of grande marquee cuvées.

Started drinking straight after opening. Light golden. Smell of fried mushrooms. A bit of a drying sensation in the mouth. Chalky. More fruit and citrus on the palette after a while. Even more creamy and integrated after 5 hours. But still keep the young notes and freshness. 95 points

Bruno Paillard BdB 1996 magnum. Svært lite utviklet. Ren og pen. Lasersyre med frukt som såvidt holder følge. Finishen sitter som et skudd. Fast med flott mineralitet. 92p+

BYO Homecoming : Magnum, blind. Steinfrukt med sitrus, intens og med fantastisk konsentrasjon, henger meget godt sammen og en lang smakskurve, kompleks finish. Stor syre, men ikke ubalansert.

In a great spot. Showing some development with mushroom and toasted nut notes, but plenty of acidity and freshness. In the perfect zone for me, but no risk of falling apart. Really good.

Nose of overripe melon, wildflower honey, oxidized grape must, and sticky buns. Palate is round and chewy with front of the tongue acidity rounding out a bit of sweetness on the finish. Caramel green apple and brioche French toast. Beautiful

From magnum, Christmas '18, wonderful with turkey and pigs and blanket! Medium gold hue. Complex nose of peach, biscuit, toast, mushrooms, rich and honeyed. Palate still very much alive, lemon, baked apple, toast, honey, nutty finish. Utterly delicious, fresh and vibrant. Still with years left, but wonderful now.

I love what age does to champagne. I think it might not be for everyone, but just a touch of oxidation I think can make the bubbles so much more interesting. This is lots of caramel and maybe some pineapple and a touch of nuttiness and just an ending hint of oxidation. Nice and tasty. Went esp nicely with a garlic and cheesy bread.

IPNC Van Duzer Group Rapid Reunion (Chez Siggy & Jenny's Place, Mpls, MN) : Light medium gold color. Drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. I really enjoyed this, a classically mature Champagne that is still vibrant and offering notes of maturity, but most importantly, a balance and elegance that still resonates. Medium plus body, golden fruits, toasted meringue, marzipan, baked apple, star fruit, baking pastries, brioche, and ripened melon with complex spices. Much more exciting than a good bottle to …

Medium yellow color. Moderate amount of fine bubbles. Lightly floral, saline and a hint of musk. Nice acidity considering age. Poached pear, slighly nutty with a little bitterness at the end. Drinks younger than it’s 22 years would suggest a very nice mature Champagne.

This is absolutely stunning. Medium yellow color. Gorgeous nose of brioche, green apple, nuts, and minerals. Muted bubbles visually but plenty of effervescence on the palate. In the mouth, it is sumptuous, lively, and fresh. Light notes of maturity frame the fresh green apple, yeast, and nutty notes. Moderate remaining acidity. Brilliant finish. This has aged beautifully and, for my taste, which eschews more mature Champagne, this is drinking perfectly. A

No formal notes. A beautiful 1996 Champagne indeed. Deep and complex developed nose with bread, nuts, ginger, tropical fruits and white stone fruits, apples and pears and a very fine streak of minerallity. Even some chalky Chablis-like seashell and ocean spray present, with a touch of honey showing to, as it came along. Palate shows younger and less developed than the nose, with warm lemon drops, ripe apples, nuts and minerals. Very clean, crispy and quite dry, with a good …

Vibrant yellow that catches the light. Tiny bubbles, not overly plentiful. Lemon pound cake on the vibrant nose. Strong saline notes with lemon zest and an incredibly deep mineral core. Shows no sign of declining soon. Amazing resilience.

Half bottle at Les Amis, disgorged in June 2015. This was a very enjoyable lunch wine. It had an alluring nose of cream, yeast and white fruit sparked with a touch of lemon zest. On the palate, and fine mousse and soft acidity cosseted clear, pure tones of apple trailing away into a long finish of mineral and lemon zest. Very poised and balanced - this was a nicely polished Champagne.

Big Bordeaux XI (Kevin and Vicki's house) : A small pour to start a tasting. This champagne had a lovely rich palate of toasted oak, brioche, lemon and good acidity. The balance here was nice. My one quibble is that it really didn't taste that old!

Big Bordeaux XI with a Twist (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)) : Medium gold color. Drank 1 glass over 20 minutes. Nose has ginger, apple, lemon, freshly wetted stones, lightly yeasty, quince and brioche. The palate follows through and is well balanced and crisp; still in good shape. 92+ to 93pts.

Still very effervescent for a 20-yr-old. Mature and integrated, with notes of malt, yeast, pear and anise. Just enough residual sugar to give a nice, round mouthfeel. Went well with seafood stir-fry and fried rice on the patio, ending a beautiful Fall day.

Champagnesmaking av 1996 årgangen (Oslo) : Modne epler på vei til å oksidere, fruktyoghurt og autolyse. Ganske utviklet uten å bikke over. Med luft drar den seg litt mot sherry. Rik moden frukt med en nydelig miks av mineraler og syre. Meget bra konsentrasjon. Lang finish som kiler godt i munnhulen. 92p før den taper seg.
