Weingut Knoll Grüner Veltliner Kabinett Ried Pfaffenberg Steiner

Kräuterig, strohig, sehr unter Spannung. Für meinen Geschmack etwas zuviel Alkohol, stellenweise zu dominant mit 13,5%. Profitierte sehr von der Karraffe. Nach 2 Stunden war er auf jeden Fall zugänglicher. Over all ein anspruchsvoller Veltliner mit bisschen zu viel Gas im Glas.

Notes of apricot or unripe peach and green apple on the nose, with a creamy, long and fabulous mineral finish.

Remains my favorite white wine producer. Not an exceptionally complex wine, but just… yummy? Ready to go now for sure but could last a few more years.

Knoll junior has been running the show for a few years now and is also the chairman of vinea Wachau. No signs of Botrytis which I hear is harder to come by in Loibenberg due to more influence of the Pannonian . Vintage is described as classic, and fresh for whites. The wine is faint, delicate, a faint whisper. Under ripe white peach and white grapefruit but more driven by radish, watercress and arugula. White flowers and honey suckle. Minerality …

Grüner Veltliner & Super Tuscan Tasting (Restaurant Vineum, Rotterdam, NL) : Tasted blind. Intense but youthful green-tinged white golden colour; expressive, youthful nose, lots of malic acidity, mouthwatering, green apple; precise, tingling acidity on the palate, marries charm and intensity, playful peachy fruit, energetic; good length. Delightful but not very complex.

Falstaff Wine Tasting, Zurich (Schiffbau) : Tasted at Falstaff‘s Swiss Wine Tasting event in Zurich. Below medium intensity nose showing mostly ananas and citric flavours. Fresh but simple on the palate.
