Upon uncorking, there is a heavy note of compost; e.g., decaying organic matter such as lemon rinds, raclette cheese & mushrooms, underscored by mineral and limestone scents. Tasting profile of honey, beeswax, nuts and tropical flowers and it ends with a dry, pleasant finish. Great pairing with chicken caesar salad. Excellent white Rhone blend and much more complexity than I expected.

Aromatic, sappy oak nose with burning rubber notes. Yellow-fruited palate with a toasty finish. 3/5

Aroma of light brown butter, vanilla, waffle cone. Light melon and a slight ammonia. Flavor melon, white peach, vanilla, cream, balancing acidity that cuts the sweet but never bites. Would like to try again to see if I still get the waffle cone on the aroma again (it’s nice). Medium to full body and feels like it will leave a lingering sweetness but finish is a light but long floral, melon, vanilla that doesn’t leave a coating in the mouth.

Better than I expected. Beewax and sweet spicies. Very good with shrimppasta and garlic. With food I felt a little hint of vanilla.

Wine Salon - Rhone (Chez Brian) : Not dead yet, but marching steadfast towards its demise. Past its prime and just a lot of stone and mineral. Fruit is thin, acid high. Not fun to drink anymore.

Not as complex -- I think starting to fade. My last bottle in any case.

Fantastic the first night (see JohnSh's and silton's [first] notes); a little less impressive, but still quite good (see wineismylife note), after two days under gas in the fridge.

Started off disjointed but came together on the 2nd day nicely. Overall not as good as my previous bottle. I think it has some cork taint. Even so, an interesting value wine worth consuming.

WIML87,NOWA,WS90 Tasted September 6, 2006 at an offline. No notes taken. Interesting. Mostly minerals with light citrus notes. Probably past prime but not dead.

Popped and poured and was rewarded with an immediate nose of honeydew melon, ginger and straw. Those extend on the palate, which features a stony undercurrent, honey, subtle tropical notes and a moderately long spice and lemon finish. A shockingly good QPR wine.

I tried this 2 years ago, and it was a very solid if unspectatular wine. But the years have been kind to this wine: it has really blossomed out, with a light gold color, lovely, fragrant nose of honeysuckle and tropical fruits, and medium-full bodied palate of similar flavours. Very rich texture and long finish too, this 100% rousanne is a lovely QPR wine. Drink now and for at least another 2-3 years.
