From my late father’s cellar, I wasn’t expecting much, but was very pleasantly surprised. A stately, elegant Bordeaux that still retained dark cassis fruit, balanced tannins, and some mature cedar/brown tobacco/leather elements, it was in a good spot for drinking, but with time in hand. There was one more bottle in the cellar, and I was glad to find it.

Still alive and well. An excellent value.

Disregard the cellar tracker drinking window; This wine is drinking at peak! (if well stored) Merlot comes through as the dominant varietal. A high end 2000 is not that much better.

Dark ruby color without signs of bricking yet. Typical nose of briary fruits and stone with subtle pencil shavings. Similar on the palate with fruit, some spice, minerals. Sweet tannins. Lovely wine. Not incredibly complex but well rounded and delicious.

From magnum. Very enjoyable and I believe at its apogee. This has some cherry fruit and floral notes but also leather and earth. Everything is nicely influenced by age. Excellent QPR at release price.

The merlot really stands out, giving it a round, still fruity and fairly dense character. A minor wine in a big year - always a good recipe for early drinking. 3-5 years more life but with this delicious dark fruit and balance, no need to wait.

On a Bdx kick this week, tasting through a few older high QPR bottles with Valerie. Last bottle of this vintage 4 years ago. Nice to check in on the 2000s. PnP, drank over a couple hours. Medium purple/ruby color, mild separation. Nose of red fruits, damp earth. Palate showing plum, black cherry, chocolate and licorice. Tannins smoothed. Medium weight and finish. Still in a great spot, brighter and more expressive on the front of the palate than I thought …

13 years in the box. This is quite nice with restraint and breed. While it has held up well, I doubt age has improved this much beyond a decade. Dark fruits, cassis, saddle leather, and underbrush. Bitter cocoa on the finish.

In a lovely place now. Some plum, mahogany, leather. Nice balance too. Satisfying.

Noe: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine. Just shy of the magical 90, but an excellent bottle in its prime. Opened up and softened meaningfully over a few hours. The fruit emerged and the tannins subsided. Classic Bdx. I have two more and I will be drinking them in the near term -- probably with a decant.

Dark Purple color. No signs of bricking. Leather, dark fruit and iodine on the nose. Dark berries (like a fruit paste) and black licorice on the palate with a little green and a little astringent on the mid-palate. Soft tannins and lots of structure. Drinking really well right now. My last of a case, I wish I would have waited as this is FAR better now than any I drank before and a knockout on value.

Opened a magnum and consumed over two days. A deep brick red in color, the classic nose features dark plum, bay leaf, lead pencil and some earthiness. Medium body, tannins largely resolved, a soft red Bordeaux showing tertiary characteristics in its old age. I appreciated it more than my SO did. No point in cellaring these any longer in my opinion.

A pleasant surprise. Classic French nose; tannins were well-resolved.

Nice wine to drink, pleasant. Typical Bordeaux, but starting to fade. Still some cassis, and red berry fruit, touch of cedar, minerals and herbs. Medium acidity and fading tannins. This is a very nice wine, and a brand I always look to buy. It is usually well made and can be aged, and still at decent prices.

With a Provencal wine braised chicken I made. Decanted for about 30 minutes, drank over 2 hours. Consistent with my August notes. This is in a good spot right now. May have passed its peak but still an elegant and charming Bdx. Still has nice fruit through the mid palate. Great QPR

Pleasant, but clearly fading. The original level of richness has morphed into a brighter, fresher, earthier, spicy, red berry filled wine. Soft, and not without charm, this requires drinking sooner than later.

AT home with burgers...spicing up an otherwise ordinary evening... From prior notes: "Medium red ruby color, Nose of red fruits, earth and leather. Palate of old/dusted red fruits, raspberry, plums, baking spice, oak and chocolate. Medium body and finish. Restrained and subtle. This is in a good spot now..." Fruit is faded a bit...drank this over about 3 hours. Riper when first opened, settling in later to a more elegant profile. Great QPR for what I paid

Still some good darker fruits, some cocoa/mocha notes, tannins barely hanging in back. Not bad at all, but not sure anything was gained by aging this. B/B-

At home, haven't had this vintage yet. first bottle from a batch bought a few years back. Paired this with a Provençal chicken and sautéed potatoes and garlic...wine was good, pairing turned out to be perfect.. Medium red ruby color, Nose of red fruits, earth and leather. Palate of old/dusted red fruits, raspberry, plums, baking spice, oak and chocolate. Medium body and finish. Restrained and subtle. This is in a good spot now, I think it will hold for several …

Plum, raspberry, leather nose; palate is intense with dark fruit with chocolate and coffee; flavours and acidity balance each other nicely. Decent finish. Ready to go now.

By coincidence I must have opened this at the same time as DJSeiler! The wonders of CT...anyway, I enjoyed it more than he did (which is in no way a judgement). Drunk over the weekend, it wasn't very impressive at first: very strong aroma and taste of dark chocolate, with fading fruit. Much improved by the second evening, with better integration of the oak and spices, together with a lot more stuffing and jammy red berries. It's the first time …

Great... I have been very pleased with the 2000 vintage. I, however, am pleased this is my last bottle. Soft, slight, underwhelming , subtle are words I would use to disrobe thus 2000. Still has flavors and aromas.. Just not like yesteryear.

Pleasant enough due to the good balance, but the fruit is quite faded and whats left just doesn't provide any interest. Smooth but simple and boring. This was from a magnum, so I'd drink these up sooner than later.

Dark purple color, decanted only about 45 minutes. Drank as a second bottle mostly after the meal. Began to open up after dinner a bit. Some floral notes, and dried fruit, vanilla, but a bit flat to me on the mid palate. Medium bodied. Tannins have faded on this one. Smooth and nice to drink but not anything too special. Was hoping for a bit more out of this 2000 vintage...perhaps waited to long. Drink 'em up.
