The Bruery Island Time

I honestly didn't wait long to open my second can, as I wanted to compare with a local brewery's coconut/cacao/vanilla stout, and the pairing of the two highlighted just how strong the marshmallow notes are on this guy. I know it's lacking cacao so the fight isn't entirely fair, but the side-by-side shows just how much the coconut notes are faded by some of the other, sweeter adjuncts. Leave it to The Bruery to prove that every season is stout season. Even though it was awfully hot, this managed to be a refreshing beverage. The base beer, marshmallow, and vanilla all make noticeable appearances, each adding a layer of sweetness that's distinct and separable. If I had any complaints, it's that the toasted coconut barely made a dent in the flavor profile for me, even as I was looking for it. Otherwise, surprisingly layered and complex!
