Domaine Laurent Mouton Givry 1er Cru La Grande Berge

Lovely wine. Pure clear garnet. Red fruit sweet but firm tannins. Grip on the palate with taste of grape front and center.

Well balanced elegant wine with notes of cherry, red berries, and some earthiness. Well integrated tannins. Drink or hold.

Slightly floral nose with light cherry notes. Nicely balanced with restrained cherry and other red berry, earth, floral tones, and oak. Light to moderate tannins. Nice expression of Pinot.

A very nice Pinot, tho not quite up to the scale of the winery's 2013 Les Grands Prétans. A touch lighter in color and intensity with less oak but with more fruit. Had I tasted it blind I might have guessed it a Beaujolais from Brouilly or Côte de Brouilly or one of the more full-bodied crus. Finishes with enough tannins to allow it to develop for another several years.
