Cellared since release, last bottle had a few years ago was AMAZING! Been standing this bottle up for a few years because it was leaking...BARELY touched the cork, and it fell into the bottle. Completely shot! Oxed brown juice. Too bad, as that last bottle was so fresh and alive.

2001 vintage

Just beautiful. Exotic nose of sweet yellow fruits and spring flowers. Once in the mouth it just beckons you to drink more. Only 8% alcohol it has a luxurious mouthfeel yet sufficient acid to be salivating while at the same time being ever so smooth. It fills the mouth with flavour, resplendent with pineapple and mandarin. Went ever so well with thai food. Superb.

Lime, guava, mango, yellow peach, waves of lush tropical fruit coat the palate on the moderately sustaining finish, but not much finesse here. big, a bit unfocused, still very good/great example of the style. AP #13

Dinner with Seth at COQODAQ A fantastic nose. No to sound too much like a tool, but this smells like W-S. Slate, honeysuckle, apple, pear and some cooling herbs hint of kaffir lime. Not really any petrol yet. Midweighted yet elegant and fresh. This dances on the plate. Intensity without weight. There's a beautiful balance of acid, fruit, soil and RS. Effortlessly beautiful. Seamless and mouthwateringly delicious. At peak with tons of time in hand.

Oddball experience here. This bottle sprang a leak somewhere along the way: the fill was down two or three inches, the label was horribly stained, and I was able to pull the cork out with my fingers. So, low expectations; what's worth noting is that the wine was actually good in it's genre (while, yes, falling short of what you'd expect from a pristine bottle) and improved after pouring. Perfectly good with spicy stir-fry.

Has barely moved since my '22 note. Crystalline pineapple and exotic fruits. Spices, ?smoke with focussed golden sugary sweetness and citric acidity that manages the impossible of being intense and in your face yet totally integrated. The whole in perfect balance. No sign of any significant aging. Adding another 5 years on my recommended drink by date. Now till 2036. Two to go.

Noreetuh : Tasted this as part of a horizontal lineup of the '15 Prüm WS bottlings. A much better showing than the Kabinett, I think the extra ripeness and richness helps here - it's still very primary and youthful, all orchard fruits and flowers with a light mineral aspect on the back end, and bright acids beneath. But yeah, this needs and I am not touching my bottles for several more years (at the very least).

Tasted with the 15 WS Kab and Aus. This was my favorite of the 3 tonight. Great fruit with the best drive and persistence. The most linear - it really packed a punch with the best zip, lots of fruit crunch and aromatic spice. No formal note but 17-17.5/20.

#15-02, 7.5% abv. A good, but not outstanding bottle of this wine. Despite a few hours of air, this never really became fully expressive. The intensity of the minerality is on full display, but at this point, not much else. I have to conclude this is a wine better left for another few years of aging, though the overall quality of this is indisputable.

Coravin, with a bit of leakage around the cork when the bottle is pressurized (short spurts of argon are better than a long press). Jeremy's German Riesling Dinner #1 - Table 1 (The Laundry, Brixton, London) : The additional age adds some colour to this wine, nose has brown sugar and some sweated butter leeks on pouring. So complex, a touch of pineapple stalk greenness too. Palate is lovely and taut, little hints of lime marmalade but acidity to support and thrill. Lovely stuff that gets better with every sip.

Last bottle from a case. Really delicious. Initially almost too clean and round but as it opened the acidity emerged and the wine was more interesting. White flowers, tropical fruits, citrus. Clean long fresh and simply delightful. Drinking well. Cork was almost completely toast, so glad to drink up

4 years since the last, and it doesn't feel like it has developed much. Despite some petrol and evolved notes on the nose, this is still bright and fresh on the palate, with ripe apricot, precise mineral depth, and a lovely, swoon-worthy texture that is juxtaposed with the lightness that dances across the palate. Surprisingly dry, this comes across more like a modern feinherb.

#12-99, 7% abv. Handily one of the best bottles of J. J. Prüm I've had in a while. This is absolutely brilliant with just a hint of reduction on the nose, but with so much of the dense minerality of the vintage. High acids that are perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and acidity. Another great bottle from what I consider to be one of two greatest German vintages of the decade.

Light green tinged lemon yellow color. Nose has stony white flowers and white peach. Palate has bright acidity and is just slightly sweet with flavors reflecting the nose. Good both as an aperitif as well as with peach bread pudding for dessert. Hard not to like this. Very solid.

I expected a more advanced color, which demonstrates good conservation of the wine. Nose of petroleum, white peach, pineapple and mango. On the palate, I expected a rich wine given the sunny vintage. My assumptions are definitely shaken up since I find myself faced with a flavorful and thin juice. Less than perfect bottle. This was overfilled, so the seal was compromised. Colour was advanced for the age, especially compared to previous bottles. Still, classic Prum markers, peach, lychee, nice frangipani, appropriate sweetness for a Spatlese, but acidity just hanging on.

I don’t like it, I love it!! Super aromatic nose of gorgeous flowers, lemon, apple, peach, apricot, honey, melon. With time and temperature the fruit fades a little to reveal more mineral characteristics, a sharp yet elegant acidity that is just superb with food especially on a hot day, but also allows this wine to age more gracefully. Bright, light-gold color. Expressive aromatics of orange blossom, key lime, white peach, honeysuckle, slate, candied ginger and hints of flint. Racy and candied-ripe on the palate, with tangerine marmalade flavors cut with taut quince and lime, along with layered, luscious notes of honeycomb, red florals, minerals, white pepper and clove. Mouthfilling and full, richly layered and integrated, high well-integrated acid, roundly textured through a long finish of baked, sweet citrus and peach, with mineral, saline and earth accents.

Pop and pour, drank a small glass over 45 minutes. My previous note in 2016 suggested that this wine was fruity and big. Well, it's not fruity and big anymore and there's some nice minerality, but its not at the level I expect for a 10 year old Prum riesling. It's just rather standard, nothing of great excitement going on. I guess try again in 5+ years....

I don't get much sugar or acid but suspect there's plenty of both. Medium bodied, balanced rather than tense. White flowers. Really elegant and probably still quite young.

Monthly Tasting Group: Rieslings and German Food (Black Forest, Mpls) : Pale gold color. drank a glass over 90 minutes. Lychee, tart, kiwi, pineapple, good acidity handles the sweetness pretty well, fusil, lemon zest, wet stone.

Cork in this was black but did remove in one piece. Seemed to lack acidity, but still showing primary tropical notes on the nose and palate. No appearance of any petrol or other tertiary notes. Holding well, but showing less than I had hoped.

Very light straw. Petrol on the nose with a swirl, also white peach, pineapple. Medium weight on the palate with nice freshness and a very persistent finish here. White pineapple, and guava / passion fruit. Goes on for a long time. Very easy to crush this. Paired well with a variety of sushi. Lovely.

AP number 15 from 2001. Good showing for this wine though still seems a bit youthful. I remember early going a bit of spritz with a round sweetness. Spritz is gone; understated nose of apple/pear; still quite sweet with fresh and taut acidity. Ideal wine to pair with some pan glazed pork chops!

Some wines are worth the patience it takes to show their potential. This wine exemplifies that concept. Composed and delicious.
