Marengo Merenda, Barolo, Cerequio

Very prominent cherries. Overall it showed signs of being overaged. Fruit was a little thin and there was a hint of sherry.

Dark red fruit, plum and mushrooms on the nose. The palate is full bodied with red fruit, anise and tobacco. Very enjoyable.

Decanted for 1 hour prior to first sip, but it really opened up closer to two hours decanted. I was worried it was past its prime as the color had a very slight orange tint at the center. As it breathed the intensity opened up and revealed all that a fine Barolo should. But the age added a great degree of finesse and made it a wonderful treat.
