Reschke, Empyrean Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra

Very deep crimson, only the very far edges have turned brown. A fairly expressive nose of blackberry, black tea, chalk, Cassis, tobacco leaf, slight red fruits at the back, lovely. The body is medium +, a little rich and reduced with time, acidity has softened with time but still mouth watering, tannins soft and slightly drying, finish is medium long. The palate still shows plenty of black fruit, tea, tobacco, plum, and graphite. It's juicy, inviting....seductive. Yes please.

Absolutely terrific wine. Intensely powerful, perfect balance of fruit, tannin and acidity. Has the dark and red fruits of a typical Coonawarra cab but perhaps a little more medium bodied than most. Persistence of the finish is the high point of the wine for mine, terrific mouthfeel. Very pleasant drinking experience.
