Drinking beautifully now. Just opened my first bottle from purchase on release. Deep color, minimal sediment. Would be interesting to have in a blind tasting against CDP to compare. Will probably start thinking about drinking through what I have over the next few years.

Plenty of life left in this, and I’m a bit surprised it still seemed so unyielding at this point. Ripe black fruit, plums, bitter chocolate and toasted chile powder. Palate enveloping, but feels a little dull as it’s fairly low acid. Well made wine but not quite my style.

Dark chocolate with uber-ripe black cherries. Palate showed more bitter chocolate notes with bitter cocoa powder, over-ripe plums and blackberries. Oak spices. Heavy mouthfeel leading to a hot finish. Not for me.

Auction purchase last year. Hard to believe, but the this was just now starting to show signs of shedding its youthful exuberance (a result of impeccable storage). Fair amount of sediment was left in the bottle when decanting , but what made it to the glass was still deep and dark with only minimal bricking. The nose was hot for awhile but eventually settled down to be a nice companion to a weighty, yet ultra polished palate. Still plenty of …

Very dark red, dark berry and chocolate aromas which expanded over a couple of hours. Dense earthy blackberry fruit, medium weight, nice balance, tannins integrated, medium length finish. Good match with pan fried ground lamb and mushrooms.

Very tasty. A little past prime but still very good. The last glass was very alcoholic tasting ad some had settled.

No more Palomita?! What a Christmas treat! Paired with beef filet and marinated pork chops. Stunner that wowed my guests to no end. I have lots of experience with this Syrah over the years. The '05 just rocks! Fruit notes present in it's youth have dissipated. Fruit now perfectly balanced with minerality, flesh and earth. Winner! Strong buy if you can find it!!

Purplish color. Vanilla, blue fruit, chocolate and alcohol in the bouquet. Firm, hard tannins; structured. Flavors of blackberry and dark fruit, chocolate here as well. Could this be Petite Sirah? Develops a buttery quality to the bouquet, and oaky spice tones come in on the finish. The chocolate stands out a little more. Guessed Cab Sauv.

Tight with muted fruit, acidic and tannic on opening. After a couple hours began to open up and show dark berry fruits, density, warmth, spice and toasty cedar. While improving, still restrained with plenty of tannic structure and acid, which would suggest this has the potential to get better in the next few years.

Let me lead with I feel a bit bad for this wine - after all we did just return from a very wine intense week in Napa/Charleston. That being said, this was not our favorite. On the nose it's some combination of wet dog and with kindof a chalky feel. On the tongue it tastes almost like an over-ripened fruit that is starting to mold. We purchased direct from winery and it's been in a Eurocave ever since so I …

Wow, inky inky inky opaque black purple, almost viscous in appearance. Seamless and velvety on the palate loaded with oodles of juicy bursting fruit. Could be a bit more balanced with a touch more acidity, but a sexy wine for sure.

Some Rhone(ish) wines on a Saturday afternoon : I had not had a Paloma syrah in a while. I don't remember the Palomita designation. In any event, purple in color. The nose has spice, black raspberries and cedar. Complex with a great texture. Tannic. On the palate, black raspberries and plums. Some heat. This is still young but has vibrant fruit and some complexity. Very good and probably my WOTD.

Tasted this after almost a full day decant. The nose had aromas of currant, earth, spices and a minty note. The palate had blackberry and plum flavors with a nice eucalyptus note. This wine was medium bodied, but the finish was a little bit on the short side for my taste. This was the first time I had seen a Syrah from Paloma, so this was a fun one for me to get to taste.

This wine has gotten better since the last time we had one. Part of Sunday Funday and burgers on the grill. Deep red in color with aromas of dark red fruit. This wine had a great spiciness, plum and earthiness.

This is great stuff. Expressive nose that is not overly ripe. Blueberrys and blackberrys galore. Probably the best Syrah I've ever had. A subtle white pepper spicyness that is special. Fruit, balance and deliciousness...AMM

Blackberry nose, big blackberry nose. Raisons on the palate, but not offensive. Crushed black fruit. The finish is short, showing that the wine should age for another 5-8 years. Very concentrated, thick wine, elixer wine.

DAWGS April 2008 - Napa AVA (Hector's on Henderson, Dallas, Texas) : WIML90? Tasted April 16, 2008. Opened and served immediately. Purple to dark purple color in the glass, clear hut throughout. Big nose with a strong aroma right up front of buttered microwave popcorn followed by some notes of blueberries, currants, dark chocolate and pepper. Flavors of black berries, black cherries and a little bitters on the finish. Also …
