Day 1: rather dry and tannic, and lacking charm. Not much fun. 82 points. Day 2: this has improved considerably, and is now showing some ripe fruit; medium weight and savoury. Upgrade to 85 points. Generally, I think the wine needs more time, although it will always be fairly ordinary.

appearance: purple nose: juicy blackcurrant, palate: light bodied; juicy black fruits, violet, savoury, hint of spice, subtle cocoa ; medium+ acidity initially, but settles down a little after opening; very light but present tannins

Still an intense purple, with definite 13.5% alcohol legs, with a nose that hints at sweet violets, then leafy blackcurrant and cassis, raspberries, and slatey graphite. High acidity, with intense cassis, followed by a finish of dry minerality. Served lightly chilled , this is a refreshing accompaniment to summer food, but will keep for a couple of years.
