This wine reminds you why we drink burgundy - this is what Pinot Noir is all about! Amazing richness on the nose, spice, herbs and animalic. Smooth and silky but yet impressive concentration. Drinks well now and for several more years.

Had this with Lafarge Volnay 2007. Based on previous bottles, I opened this 3 hours in advance. As expected, the nose opened up considerably to a deep opulent blend of dark fruits and potpourri. A bit clumsy on the palate, especially compared to the Lafarge, which was the group favorite. Still a great 2007 which will show very well after a few hours of ox.

More taken with this one than the last. A generosity and silkiness of textue on the nose allied with red, cherry-led fruit, all of which are exhibited on the palate. A lightness and freshness, whilst hinting at something more opulent, lengthened by lacy minerality. Fresh, long and lovely. No grander than it should be but a lovely wine from a fine address. Dinner @ Sweet Basil, Vail. Ordered off the list. Nice aromatics, but a bit lean and thin on the palate -- could use more flesh and fruit. Tart cherries, herbs, and woodsmoke. Medium finish.

Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant Burgundy Tasting (Ferry Plaza, San Francisco) : Light, some astringency, a bit tannic and yet semi-open for business. i get some fresh cut wood, strawberry, tart cherry and hints of violets. a good wine but under performs a bit for the price.

Domaine Dujac's 2007 red Burgundies (Liner & Elsen, Portland OR) : Soft floral notes on the nose, with just a light tinge of some oak funk along with gravel. Pretty, but there's also something awkward about it. The palate shows some bright, generic Pinot fruits, lightly green in nature, with soft texture and acid building. Nice acidic grip on the finish with gravely tannins. Not the smoothest effort, but pleasing structured elements with acidic, under ripe raspberries. Further sips show …
