Bellingham Syrah The Bernard Series Basket Press

Medium red in the glass. Nose a deep smoky berry, oak. First taste full Syrah flavour. Rich red fruit and oak, smooth though. Can taste the alcohol (14%) but it’s nicely smoothed out. Rounded but not too rich, with some tannin. Had it laid down a couple of years, would be good for a couple more. Matched well with a marinated steak. Very enjoyable.

Smooth and well-balanced South African blend made up of 87 % Shiraz, 10 % Mourvèdre and 3 % Viognier, aged for fourteen months in French barriques. A deep ruby-red colored wine with an aromatic nose displaying scents of red berry fruit, dark chocolate, violets and nuances of cedar wood and leather. Round and dense in the mouth with ripe cherry and plum fruit, a harmonious texture and suave tannins. Good length. Let the wine breathe at least one hour before …

14% alc. Shiraz, Mouvedre, Viognier grapes. Oog: Transparant, intens, matige doorzichtigheid, grote viscositeit, veel licht gekleurde tranen. Neus: Zuiver, intens, aroma's van rode kers en zwart fruit, kreupelhout, herfstgeur, eik, rokerig, pure chocolade, peper, laurier, nootmuskaat, kruidnagel, vanille. Mond: Krachtig, ronde warme wijn, mooi in balans, verweven tannines en met afdronk van 6 à 7 sec. Super voor deze prijs. Meer geëvolueerd dan voor 2 jaar maar nog enkele jaren mee.

No formal notes - drank over 3 days. Best on day 2. Full and thick, not much complexity, but very pleasant.
