Domaine Labet Savagnin Côtes du Jura Grains Nobles

Remarkable again, if not even better than a year ago. I think the early low scores here are out of context since the wine probably wasn�t ready. I�m going to have to invest more into this style of wine.

Read Fingers notes below. He/she pretty much nailed it... twice. For my small part, I really enjoyed its differences.

Notes on the second night open. The bouquet has expanded a little, there is more oxidative character and nutty complexity. I think it has come up a rung or two on its ladder and I'm going to love this even more in another year. 5+11+16+9= 91

Medium gold color with good shine and clarity. First whiffs are of nutshell and toasted meringue with lighter notes of citrus rind following up. Pucker City on the palate with very racy acidity and a mouthwatering tartness. Baked green apple, pink grapefruit, and mixed nuts in the flavors. Our first bottle of this wine, I think Pifcho's description fits my experience almost perfectly. That noted, I prefer savagnin to express certain flavors and savory aspects which were weak in this wine. So an undeniably excellent wine, somewhat untypical of Jura and significantly chardonnay-esque. Enjoyed with smoke chicken breast dinner.

Electric, zippy, great acids with solid Meyer lemon and other yellow and green citrus flavors. Really good wine!

The most exciting bottle of wine, I have had in a while. I have consistently loved Labet's wines, but this is the best one to date. Labet seems to bring a very Burgundian perspective to Jura as the wines are nowhere nearly as oxidative as the classic expamples from the region. To me this was like an amped up Chablis. Very nice. Unlike what the other posters said, this did not seem oxidative to me at all. light apple, melon, lychee, white daisy on the nose. Taste was light apple, passion fruit, lychee, melon, huge mouth watering acidity, Long finish with a touch of bitterness and heat.

Jura Tasting (San Francisco Wine Trading Company, San Francisco, California) : Light golden yellow color with 2 millimeter clear meniscus appealing, lime and lemon butter sauce, floral, tart peach nose; complex, tangy, tasty, tart lemon, lemon oil, tart peach, mineral, tart kumquat palate; medium-plus finish (would pair well with vegetable and potato dishes; 14.5% alcohol)

Crisp apples on both the nose and palate; structured, focused, high acid, tart and succulent finish. Nice wine.
