Donnachiara Falanghina Beneventano

Honey, straw, pear, almonds, and a touch of pine and herbs on the finish, which is slightly salty. A decent match with Italian antipiasti (artichokes, giardinara, olives) on bread with cheese. This is a pretty good wine for $11 and these Falanghinas should be considered good food wines for a budget price.

This reminded me of a softer, better balanced Pinot Grigio. I tend to avoid PG because most of it is too citrus-forward and tart with little complexity, but this had good acidity and citrus without being overwhelming. Worked very well for cooking (white wine and tomato sauces) and drank very well with dinner.

Gold color. Banana and tropical fruit nose and creamy taste. It did not feel right, it did not feel like a Falanghina. At times, it felt like drinking like a soft chardonnay from Central California.
