Winery Arts Ribera del Queiles Reverse Six

This was my favorite sub $25.00 wine from a very large Spanish wine tasting in Chicago. Decanted for 1 hour in the vinturi. Explosive flavor of black cherry that persisted despite a tannin edge. The lush fruit was not overwhelmed by the tannin but the bottle could have benefited by another couple of years. Very long finish. Wonderful wine, wish I had more.

Mid-Week Chill (Tung Lok Signatures, Central) : 50% Merlot, 50% Tempranillo. Another modern spin on an old world wine - like the Domenico Clerico Langhe that preceded it, this was pretty good as well. Lovely nose for sure. Rich cherries, a whiff of smoke, some damp earth, even some flowers. Very attractive stuff Palate was very ripe, with plenty of sweet cherries and plums, but there is a nice old world earthy smokiness, almost cigarette-like accent curling around. Tannins made …
