Famille Bougrier Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil Les Cailloux

Fruity, yet not jammy. A little earthy and green from the pyrazines, but not overwhelming in that sense. Would not hold for too long, but that is not a criticism. Lovely wine to drink right now, especially in this price range.

What a terrific wine at such a young vintage. Sweet over ripe strawberry, vanilla cream, alcohol doesn’t overpower at all, and a lovely dry/smooth balance. This is a crowd pleaser for sure and a great wine to introduce cab franc to new comers. This will be a staple for when I’m looking for an elevated fruit forward wine (without being a fruit bomb or jammy) at only $20 (2025).

Very light and not complex. Fruity like Gamay but smoother tannins.
