Goodfellow Family Cellars Pinot Noir Heritage No. 17 Durant Vineyard

A nose that’s slightly difficult to decipher, but it could be me. Cranberry and spice and alcohol. The mouthfeel is seductive - soft and welcoming. The flavors are gorgeous - cranberry and not-quite-ripe strawberry. A good measure of spice, a slight bit of dusty, like maybe some whole-cluster?? Probably not. Long, pleasant finish. This wine will be way better in five years or so. Fortunately, I have enough to keep track over a few years. Nice wine.

Drinking really well after a gentle decant about 30 minutes before service. Great depth of raspberry and cranberry fruit with pine needles, sap, and baking spice. Some fine grained tannins kick in and carry a long finish. I could see this closing up but it’s great right now.

A good wine, fairly savory and better with food. I’ll hold my other bottle for a few years and suspect it will improve. Fairly prominent nose of soft red fruits, sherbet, cinnamon, white flowers. Sharp cherry flavor, some mushroom / forest floor, some stones / minerality. Fairly savory overall. Acidity is brisk without being abrasive. Tannins clearly present by not at all aggressive. Medium body, fairly long finish.

PnP. DIAM 30. Little reduction, fresh nose of bright red fruits with rose petals right out of the gate. If you really dig you get a hint of inner tube. Palate is wide open and extremely approachable already with boysenberry, tart cherry layered with bramble and minerality. Maybe a touch of dilution on the finish compared to the Heritage 18/19, but puts on some weight with air.

With Megan and Marcus A lovley inviting nose with deeper red fruits, Vosne like spice, licorice and pastille notes. Deep and sapid on the palate with a relative fleshiness among the lineup. It's texturally rich but never heavy. Power and suppleness. Finishes with firm fine tannins and some cool herbal stemmy notes. Delicious
