Easily the best of the series. Black raspberry, smoked meats, cherry cola, pepper, tar. Licorice/anise emerges with air. Still bright acidity and some sweet tannic structure. The first bottles of the series felt young, needing time. This one seems to be in its prime and I would guess it should stay there for awhile. No decant. I like older Syrahs and this one is spot on. Drink or hold maybe another 5-7 years or more.

Ridiculous wine. Drank alongside two and three thanks to Dave. Similar notes to two but slightly more elegant - plum, licorice, smoke, nutmeg, meat juices, some earth. Some liked this one best of the three - is 100% syrah with 0% viognier. Any of them are spectacular. If you like northern rhone you need to try this.

Layers of complexity including plum, nutmeg, meat juices, some smoke, some earthiness. So smooth. Drank with one and three thanks to Dave. This one has 8% viognier. Might be the most balanced of the three? All were spectacular.

This felt to be in the most appropriate spot on opening vs the other two expositions. Black fruit compote, savory smoked meats and baking spices emanate from the glass. The palate delivers with layers more of licorice, cinnamon and mocha delivered with a creme de cassis textural intensity. The tannic structure quickly resolves - at least for my bottle, it feels ~10 years is the right time. Acid is still sufficient to keep the bountiful concentration of black fruits in …

The exposition one presented the clearest vision of the three expositions in my opinion. Drinks good out of the bottle. Serves best at ~60F cellar temp - as it warms, the alcohol starts to take over and throws the palate out of balance. Savory and herbal on the nose - the main cast of black fruits hang in the foreground, but are not the focus. The palate delivers the richness of both a fresh black plum and sweet dried prunes. …

Give this plenty of air and it opens up to a very textural Syrah with loads of freshness; this is barely middle aged. Nose is smoky black fruits, black pepper, olive, oak spice. Palate is creamy and mineral, with an herbaceous, peppery finish.

Quick note: opened this up for Xmas, enjoyed off the pop for about 2 hours or so before it was drained; although tasty and quite quaffable, this bottle was fairly unremarkable overall and actually a step down from a recent 2013 Mixed Blacks Weill a Way. Should add it was properly cellared since arrival, no noticeable flaws although the tannins were far more pronounced than any of the other Expositions, 2012 included. With 2 bottles remaining, we'll see what the …

Last of the Exposition series syrahs. A worthwhile endeavor, if not the best QPR. Starting to show some age with subdued fruit and secondary characteristics. Minimal tannins. I'd suggest drinking soon but all may not agree.

Decanted this for an hour before service. Right away, the aroma hits you...big dark fruits; blackberry, plum, maybe some fig? Coffee, some barrel notes, a bit of black pepper. Alcohol is lightly evident, but the fruit melds nicely with it. I will admit that this got harder and harder to drink as it sat in the decanter longer. Best right off the pop. Acid and tannin took over as it got more air. By hour 4 it was near undrinkable. …

Right out of the bottle this still impresses. As it airs it slowly looses the nose and palate complexity becoming an ungiving spicy, alcoholic, one dimensional tough wine to like. When first poured it was excellent with a deep nose and palate featuring black cherry and meaty notes. As it aired the alcohol dominates and any fruit influences go away. This bottle was stored in temp controlled storage for the entire time.

Deep color with black raspberries, spice and floral in the nose. Lots of black and blue fruits, blackberries and black raspberries with licorice and spice in the flavor. The texture of this Syrah was really excellent and stood out to everyone drinking it. A rich, complex wine, medium to full bodied, very well balanced and a long silky finish.

Cork broke upon extraction with cork screw. Filtered while pouring this wine into a decanter. Unbelievable intense nose of red fruits and flowers. After the initial slight off-taste blew off, this wine tasted fresh and delicious all evening. Some of the fullness did diminish as the evening progressed, but it was always a joy to taste this very special wine.

This is a great Syrah, although it has mellowed since my first bottle. I was concerned that I might have waited too long on this wine after reading previous note, but this is superb. I will update note after finishing the bottle tonight. Smoke and meat flavor dominate. 2nd day it faded a little

Amazing, profound nose of smoke, bacon fat and black fruits. Dark and red fruits, green olive that fades with air, soft finish. I could just sniff it all night and get pleasure.

Interesting cross section of views in the current TNs. I enjoyed this one immensely. Mootsie's flavor profile struck me as right on. More savory Provencal notes than California fruit but the fruit is there. Plenty mature for drinking now but age worthy.

Needs a decant and even then, it still comes across young. With that being said, this wine presents an intriguing mix of dark fruit and layered notes of pepper, tapenade, smoke and earth. Vibrant and balanced. At the initial offering price, it’s a deal. I would let these sit for another 3-5 years and check in again. These are 20+ year wines.

Purchased direct from Bedrock last year. Better than Exposition One but still very disjointed with tons of oak, exposed alcohol and not much structure. Yes it’s explosive/powerful but less Guigal and more 2000’s Parker. Still it’s a fun wine to try. Full bodied plus with extracted black/blue fruit, smoked meat, minerals and a ton of sweet vanilla. Texturally grainy upfront and watery on the finish. Drink over the next couple of years. All have a borderline finish funk on the …

Ready to go from the start but did gain some texture with time decanted. Overall I just think these drank better a few years back. Today it’s somewhat secondary but with an incredible amount of unresolved oak. Black/blue fruit, Asian spice, damp earth/wet towel, leather and of course plenty of sweet oak. High quality at under $75 but not current after market prices.

Decanted, took 2 hours to find itself, was pretty shut down before that point. Once open for business, this was a a very full textured Syrah with an exotic array of orchard and berry fruits (peach, wild strawberry, cherry) with deep smoky undertones. Oak spice featured prominently but was part of the composition. Meaty and complex on the nose, the wine is more about the palate with its unctuous texture, spice tones, and length. Hard to tell how exciting this …

Deep purple wine. Nose of raspberry and blackberry bramble. Hints of brandy and campfire. Stunning nose. In the mouth it has rich red fruits, leather and a touch of smoke. Delicious, absolutely stunning. Lives up the expectations for this bottle for sure. This was the one and only we could find, but will absolutely be hunting to backflll the cellar as it has a few years left. Delicious.

Sooo long, so delicious, you could chew on this. Exotic, balanced with great fruit but not jammy. Highest score of the year for me and I would not argue against higher scores. I bought the exposition wines on release, best buys ever at $60 ea. This blew an 07 Ridge Monte Bello out of the water.

Not as good as other bottles, not sure if something was wrong with this bottle. Black cherry, raspberry, blackberry, cinnamon, licorice, toasted meats, silky smooth palate. Medium tannins are prevalent at this time, didn’t have them as much on the earlier bottles, I’d probably wait 2-3 years to drink anymore. Still this is most excellent!

Such an outstanding wine. Drank it right out of the bottle over 3 hours. Dark red with an explosive nose. Dark berries. Just inhale. Smooth on the palate with perfect balance. Nothing is out of place. I would say it is in its early drinking window now, but with plenty of years left.

A great crunchy and savory bouquet during the first hour which morphed into smoky dry meats thereafter as the palate impression became increasingly drier. Turned out to be an excellent pairing with jalapeno-duck hearts, and a flop with a chili pepper-tuna belly dish. Hold till 2019. 95-96

PnP, opaque ruby color, nose not as expressive as I remember, dark red fruits, cooking spices, some beef blood, salty rock, now on the palate this wine just explodes! Dark red sweet fruit infused with cinnamon, beef blood, great firm tannins with medium+ acidity, really nice intensity and great balance. This is amazing as always and really unbelievable for the price it was originally. A shame they can't make these anymore, I hope another source is identified for a similar experiment.

The greatest young wine I've ever tasted. Was worried it wouldn't live up to the hype, but was absolutely singing after a quick 1 hour decant. Violets, perfume, Cuban cigar and asphalt...and a finish that sailed on for a full minute. Wow!

WA 100 points US wines (14 wines) - Wine tasting dinner (Søllerød Kro) : Medium Purple. Northern Rhone blend 92% Syrah and 8% Viognier. Too young. Dried fruit, smoky, herbal, cedar, vanilla. Long finish. Too young, not in balance yet but I see it as a coming extraordinary wine. This tasting's winner!

My first one of the 2013 series, fortunately I have to 2 sets. If Parker thinks this is the weakest - I can't wait to try the others. Could have used more time to open up. I took it to a restaurant and only got about 30 mins of a decant. Anxious to see how these evolve.

Opened last night, enjoyed most of it. A little less open tonight. This wine is a behemoth. A little lighter in color than I expected. A grand aroma of a dark fruits, meat and herbs. Very earthy and old world in nature. Young and bright. It's very viscous on the palate almost like there is fruit pulp in the bottle. Second wine I've had from the series this year, bright red fruits, good acidity, less meat than the "two", cooking spices, great extraction, rhubarb, earth, dates, really really good. The "two" was better off the bat, this wine took a bit longer to come around, so I'd leave for 1-2 years before trying. But if you are so inclined like me, decant for a few hours first. Great wine again from Morgan/Chris and crew!

This is better than last years example, it's incredible and I wish I had more.
