Floral nose with aromas of violets, currant, plums. Spicy yet polished. The organic mineral nature brings such an invigorating spirit to this. Very good, very Priorat.

Pedigree does pay off. Last bottle of a 6 bottle purchase and by far the best. Lesson to self--the Palacios wines need some bottle age.

Mid to deep ruby Lifted aromas of raspberry, red and blue fruit along with liquorice and cayenne pepper. As the wine opens, there is a savoury element with blackberry to tayberry with gentle oak spices (more used barrels than new) as well as a mineral-edge typical of Priorat. Medium-bodied, there is a wealth of fruit on the entry, Chinese-5-spice, mineral with a powdery texture. The tannins are more sinewy and firm, and the length medium to long. The back palate …

Finally showing up with a complex, dense array of aromas and flavors. Earthiness, roasted meat, herbal flowers--it's all here. Drank my other bottles way too soon.

Beautiful Granaca wine. Red and black fruit. Balanced acidity and tannins. Confused about the statement of simple or not much complexity. For a wine sub $20, believe it is an exceptional value.

Getting closer to prime drinking plateau, now showing more balance and some nice red fruit notes along with the great acidity. Need a bit more time to show some complexity, if it ever will.

Easy drinking now- balanced but light to Med body. Med finish. Dark fruits but hint of raspberry? Enjoyable.

Le pourtour ocre démontre une évolution. Wow.

UWS a random set of wines (@ JB) : In the bouquet dark berries, sweet spices and herbs. On the palate ripe red and dark berries, some green impressions, good acidity and slightly sticky tannin as well as good bitterness in the finish.

Mid purple crimson, with a nose of light oak spices, earth, mineral with red-fleshed fruit, Bing cherry. The palate is fuller than expected, lots of red and some black fruits, deep core, with a firm powdery texture and filigree tannins. Overall, very good quality, good concentration, subtle power with a sweetness yet density to the tannins. Plenty of red flesh to balance the tannins with warm generous alcohol offset by soothing acidity. Long farewell. Perhaps a tad on the simple …

Clear, dark mauve with purple rim, perfectly spread slow-moving thin tears. Clean, med- intensity, aromas of cassis, blackberries, jus de boeuf, hints of cigar, black pepper. Dry, med body, med- acidity, med tannins, med+ alcohol, further tastes of mulberry, stewed plums, black olives, and cardamon. Not terribly complex but still the basic flavours of a good Priorat with a fine finish.

Bright nose with notes of lavender and plums. Medium weight, clunky tannins. Tart, notes of cherries jubilee and hints of olive. Casual in nature, but bright as well. I know this was made for short-term drinking, but the clunky immature tannins indicate to me that this could use two more years.

Was a good steady drinker without being overpowering, little bit of black pepper on the finish, needed a bit of air, about 30 min, before it was in full bloom. Would have again for $25-30

Deep purple color with a bouquet and flavor of plums, with hints of chocolate. Quite angular and a bit rough, particularly in the finish, but still pleasant enough with some intrigue. It helps that it was quite cheap. Palacios is a good winemaker, but he might still learn something from California winemakers who excel at making cheap wines that are drinkable and free of major offenses, albeit with little nuance and the boredom of blandness.

Full body, deep purplish garnet color. Intense fresh red fruits, spicy, floral and peppery aroma. Sour cherry, currants, dominantly herbal and mineral on the palate, long juicy finish. Powerful and rich but fresh, bold structure, complex but a bit dis-balanced, nice acidity, gently tannic, alcoholic. Food friendly, best match is a meat, as grilled and baked as stewed. Open about one hour in advance. Serve 18º - 24º. Drink now while young and next couple years.

Hard to assess. I know this is an entry level wine, but it still seems young and disjointed to me. Very bright red fruit on nose and palate, just a hint of minerality and vibrant acid. I think it still needs to knit together.

After falling in love with the Black Slate Priorat, decided to give this one a shot. On first sip i wasn't as into it, lots of licorice and mineral notes. However after letting it sit for a few days it really opened up. Would buy again.

(Berry's Rioja and Catalonia Tasting 2015) :: Still in barrel. Very floral, red fruits. Lifted with good complexity and balance, with a touch of earth in the background. Huge tannin and oak at the moment; hardly surprising.
