Deep red with violet rim. Nose of ripe cherry and minerals. Mostly fruit in the palate. Traces of the new world. Minerals and powerful dark fruit.

- Ruby color - An interesting and tasty blind. Light ruby red and guessing a thin skinned grape. No front palate but sweet mid palate. I got cherry fruits suggesting Pinot Noir but others did not. Not as tannic as a Sangiovese or Nebbiolo would suggest. Raspberry and nicely acidic. 100% Carignane. Who knew? Drink now to 2020.

Lovely nose! Deep, rich fruit (berry and crisp apple), floral (the label says lilac, and it's so true!), and a bit of green pepper. The palate unveils orange peel, licorice, tobacco, and talc. Light and drinkable, but intriguing and satisfying. Especially at this price point, a surprisingly pleasant little wine. Would definitely buy it again.

Bright shiny lightish red rose, pretty wine. bright fruit, raspberry, cherry, mineral, savory, First night was brighter, losing a tiny bit of brightness on 2nd night after being Vaccum sealed in wine fridge. W/o reading, i would have thought a Pinot with more raspberry and minerality. Some but not enought experience with Carignane grape. Very nice and would buy again.

Bright vibrant bred fruit, one might guess a Pinot Noir from the appearance in the glass, but the fruit favors red cherry and red raspberry, licorice and femme Has a mineralogy element. Drinking well now and I would buy again.

A great wine to have with pizza. The fruit has personality. A bit of lavender on the nose. A fun experience trying out a wine made from 100% carignan grape. I would definitely try more wines from Lioco after this one.

Lovely, just the type of red wine I love; bright, fresh and vibrant with great purity of fruit. The nose is pure raspberry with a little floral note. The palate is fruity, sweet edged and bright. There is a touch of grip and spice, the sweet lush sour cherry and raspberry fruit returning on the finish.

Plummy fruit with a touch of medicinal notes. Not terribly delineated, but probably would be great as a light drinking wine with sausages or such. Medium acid, medium light body, modest finish. Decent entry level table red for drinking now.

Juicy and a little sour. Acidic. Nice with food!

I admire what Matt & Kevin have done at Lioco, producing quality, reasonably priced wines. However, I'm not a fan of their Carignan. But really, it's just me! I prefer drinking wine without food and this is definitely a food wine. Really very good with just about any food (as was mentioned in an earlier review). This is dry, with some nice fruit but rather simple. A well made wine (as is the case with all Lioco wines), just not …

Red fruit aromas and flavors. It was pretty good by itself. A decent red wine. Decent finish.

Bought this after having at a restaurant and finding it nice on PnP and across the meal. This is a really versatile food wine pairing with everything from chorizo & squid pizza to bone marrow on toast to a whipped cauliflower and mushroom dish. Recent comments from others capture it pretty well, especially BEERZEBUB's.

Fruity, sour (like sour cherry), and acidic - all in a good way for a lighter/shorter red wine. It does verge on cocktail in presence, but with excellent purity of fruit. Easy drinking. Not as much grip or as interesting as Sandlands, but overall a fun wine.

Showcasing the fruitier side of Carignane with a savory backbeat. Really drinkable and fun now, might be nice with a couple more years on it, though I might miss the joyous fruit. Lots there at 12% ABV. Yum.

PnP. Smells like red fruit, flowers, spice, and earth, fresh and pretty but with some depth as well. Similar flavors; fresh mixed berries, pomegranate, hibiscus, citrus, and spicy, mineral, earthy accents. Light bodied, with fairly light but certainly perceptible tannins, and good refreshing acidity. Well balanced. Some nice stony minerality develops in the finish. Interesting to try Carignan made in such a light, pretty style. Good stuff.

Simple in style, dry, structured, medium light and very refreshing, though serious enough to stand up to heavier fare.

Much more extraction and fruit then the 2011, but still with that great drive and power. Delicious this year.

Black raspberry, flowers, rocks on the nose. Fresh, fruit-forward palate in an acid-driven way, well-delineated with black raspberry, crushed rocks, and a vein of blood orange. Super delicious.
