Nice Rioja. Not traditional but also not a modernist style. Like the bueberries and rioja style acidity. Nice wine

Really tasty reserva here! 50% French oak, 50% American oak. Juicy blackcurrant, red apple, raspberry, plum, liquorice, tobacco, dried sage, and vanilla notes throughout nose and mouth. Full bodied with balanced oak and crunchy acid, tannins are high, but supple at the same time. Fairly dark and intense with a gd display fruit and savoury character.

A nice bottle... a little sharp at first but with a chance to breathe it mellows nicely.

Third and last bottle, different again, muted strange aromas on the nose when first opened, so decanted into jug then back to bottle after an hour, this opened it up and brought out the dark fruits and leather on the nose, still a bit bland on the palate but decent enough, these three bottles have all been different, strange goings on at Luis Canas to have that much differential.

This bottle should with the time be more integrated than those that have gone before, but for some reason it is as many others have said more of a fruit bomb, maybe just this bottle the earlier ones had so much more going for them, no doubt in this form a crowd pleaser but downgraded from the earlier bottles for me.

Its forte its also its limit. This is a smooth, pleasant, round red wine and one can sip this happily on its own or as part of a meal but thats all it is and fails to make an impact or a memorable moment. It does the job of a caddy to the meal in a nice way. 88-89

Showing a lot of wood, spices and dark fruits. But very soon after opening it showed signs of being corked and it suffered from fast oxidation.

The bottle was very good, but you can still feel the new barrel which prevents me to give 90+

Structuur, lengte, prachtig in balans.

Purchased in a supermarket in Haro on a trip to Rioja, Wonderful wafting nose of fruits, medium bodied smooth tannins and texture with again dark fruits in the mouth and a touch of chocolate, this was as good as any of the numerous top Riojas tried in the region and brought back home, great stuff.

Zeer krachtige, zware wijn.

My second bottle ( first acquaintance during monthly tasting of the wine club ). Lovely colour, great perfume rising from the glass. Very smooth in mouth, still quite some tannins though well integrated. Abundance of red fruits, very jammy, runs across your teeth so well, woody. Great finish, a wine that is a real crowd pleaser. Drink now or keep cellared. Mathijs

A bit too: sexy, sweet, hefty, but who cares? If you like this style you adore this wine. I like it less.

Bottle shock V Nature vs conventionnal wines (Ales France) : Blind tasting. A bomb. Many tasters falled in that easy drinking globalised wine. New oak, underwood notes, super extracted fruit. Polished tannins. Long and seductive palate. average 15 me 92, Q\P exceptional.

Blind tasted. I wrongly guessed a powerful, super oaky Nebbiolo. Lots of alcohol and lots of acid. Fruit verges on the side of eau de vie but it is mega powerful. Not a wine of finesse but probably tasty with a slab of beef. Great QPR as it turns out.

From memory. That's a universal wine. It has everything. Structure, concentration, depth, finesse and new oak. Plus a name with the best value word : "familia". Excellent product, even for "global purist" like me. Thanks, I did taste front to label.
