Flowers, Sea View Ridge Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast

Luxardo cherry, pine, mountain wildflowers. A nice expression of Sonoma with generous flavor. You can capture a bit of salinity from the sea in the taste profile. Enjoyed over 2.5 days and it held up well.

Beautiful aromas of strawberry rhubarb. A semi dry Pinot with soft tannins. A hint of cocoa on the finish.

Flowers 2019 Pinot Noir Sea View Ridge: Dark ruby. Dark cherry, vanilla, and oak spice aromas. Ripe and bold, dominantly dark fruit with round tannins. Smooth, mouth filling, and full bodied, with a lingering oak aftertaste. Classic California Pinot. You either like the style or you don't.

Nose is a little muted but the finish is all sonoma, dark berries and kirsch. Soft tannins, drinking amazingly, probably got a few years to go but worth it to open now

Chicago Gourmet Grand Cru (Harris Theater - Chicago IL) : Walk around tasting. Nicely spiced with rich red cherry and berry. Fun and easy, just a bit warm on finish.

Nicely mature with still vibrant black cherry fruit, kissed by a little cola and oak. $115 at Al Biernat's in Dallas, but not from the list.

Oxidation, coming straight from the warehouse. Something is dicey. Not enjoyable. I'd say flawed, but others just say this sucks. Lots of sous bois.

Burgundy color with a subdued bouquet and flavor hinting at dark cherries integrated with typical but hard to define Pinot Noir notes. I at first thought that this wine was reaching the end of its drinking period, but another taster commented on its muted character, and I now feel that Flowers has joined the "balance" alliance, a group that can be so fanatical as to refuse to serve wines that aren't sufficiently "balanced" in their restaurants (not to say that …

Limited notes. Nose was masculine. Touches of truffle, smoke and a lot of rustic cherry. A touch austere on the back end, but this just seems to be the Flowers style.

Any New World Pinot lover would be hesitant to deliver a rating less than that which I am offering here. Medium ruby, fresh and delightfully fruity (yet amazingly complex), it delivers dried berry, allspice, earth, cola and cocoa aromas and flavors. Spicy and solid in the middle, it concludes with impressive length. This Pinot will never be confused with Burgundy, but sophisticated Pinot it is! Drink now-2016.

Medium ruby color. Really fantastic nose of cranberry, bright cherry, baking spices and some orange scented black tea. Really fantastic. Mostly tart red fruit flavors on the palate along with more of the baking spice and tea notes. Mouth watering acidity, silky mouthfeel and a long, caressing finish. Really just a great bottle of Cali pinot and I love the fact that these wines are traditionally under 13%, which is how pinot noir should be in my opinion.

Slow oxed for an hour and drunk over the following two. Initially, very exciting nose and palate attack. Perfectly composed/balanced sweet, dark red fruits with gorgeous mouthfeel. Finally, a Cali Pinot that isn't marred by overripe fruit and/or alcohol? Not so fast, with more air some pretty hot alcohol comes through strongly on the mid palate and finish. Such a shame!

Subtle aromas. Sea breeze, fresh linen, soft medium bright cherries, some touches of white peppercorn and creamed corn kernels. Palate again shows feminine fruit and very soft styling. It's elegant and full of finesse. Caresses palate. Nice finish though maybe wanted a touch more nuance.

Fruity perfumey nose followed by pretty red fruits, faint charred earth. Food friendly acidity. OK value at $40 but overpriced at $60. Should drink well for a few more years.

A nice understated wine. Earthy components and extremely well restrained. The palate is a bit thin and shows some tart edges, but it may just be too young. I haven't loved the showings of this wine thus far, I'll try again in a year or two.

Very tight. Day 1 - Very restrained nose of red fruits, anise, green peppercorns. Very polished with big tannins, ripe but not too ripe. Day 2 - Nose opened a little with some more red cherry, cranberry, eucalyptus, more pepper, a little animal, beef blood, some chalkiness with a nice big, dense palate. Seems likely to get quite a bit better with some more age. Very polished, but seems to lack a little character.
