Drank this as a birthyear wine knowing it was past its peak. In the decanter it opened up a bit, showing interesting aromas. All in all it was quite thin and acidic. I think this bottle should have been consumed ~10 years ago

Ende letzten Jahres meinte ich erste Anzeichen von Vergänglichkeit zu bemerken. Habe mich deshalb gegen eine weitere Lagerung entschieden und den Genuss meiner letzten Flasche beschlossen, bevor diese ein böses Ende nimmt. Ruhig ist der Wein, duftet angenehm nach dunklen Früchten, Veilchen, Leder, Eisen und Holz. Am Gaumen quasi der gleiche Film, ergänzt durch eine Nuance Schokolade. Kaum noch Säure, ganz weiche Tannine, langer, samtiger Abgang. Immer noch ein feines Träumchen, wird aber definitiv nicht mehr besser. Noch weniger Säure …

Ziegelrot mit bräunlichem Ton, leicht an Sherry erinnernd. In Nase und Mund ist davon aber absolut nichts zu bemerken. Schöner Duft nach Waldboden, Tabak, Leder und Eiche. Die dunklen Früchte treten in den Hintergrund. Am Gaumen das gleiche Spiel. Erdig, Tabak, Holz, ein Hauch Vanille und dezent Pflaume. Gutes Volumen, sanfte Power und rund geschliffene Tannine. Der Nachhall ist samtig und lang, die Tannine klingen leise aus. Toll gereift und möglicherweise auf dem Zenit. Das strahlt so viel Ruhe aus …

Drank with a 1990 and a 2009. Clearly, it's not a good year. Short, lacking depth and tannins. Grapes have clearly not a attained their full maturity. It wood have been better to drink it by itself, with no comparison... But even so, would not have rated well, price ratio wise.

Brick-red in colour, nice red fruit and subtle oak/cedarwood nose. Lovely smooth tannins and nice balance in the mouth: felt it was a very correct and elegant wine. Paired very nicely with a pot-roast pork.

Short, simple. There are plenty better wines in this price range. Drink - 2018.
