Soldera (Az. Agr. Case Basse) Sangiovese Toscana IGT

Opened at Zarzo in Eindhoven. P&P and enjoyed over lunch. First experience with this vintage, and really fun to try and compare against the 2013 from the day before. This wasn't quite as good, but we're splitting hairs here. Performing to expectation and was a stunning wine. Incredibly hedonistic and always a privilege to drink. Opened at 11am for dinner drinking and kept in cellar. This was so structured more so than the 2006 which we compared. But perhaps the 2006 had a little more complexity.

Corney & Barrow - Soldera Masterclass (Andaz Hotel - Studio II) : Pale garnet. Huge slamming potpourri bouquet, and red cherry, and twigs. Similarly expressive on the palate, with huge florals, cherry and cinnamon, and some dirt. Very persistent, with florals and fruits intertwining. Fabulous!

Opened and decanted and this wine only started to show one hour after decanting but then it just took off and showed it’s beautiful colours of dense dark fruit laced with perfume.
