Translucent cherry red. Ripe cherries on the nose. Polished and delicate on the palate. Black cherries, licorice, bit of raspberry. Dusty spice on the mid-palate. Bought one bottle and held it at cellar temp. There is fruit left but it’s time to drink up. I found it on the lighter side, in the glass looks like an Oregon Pinot. Great structure, spice, and length. Interesting wine.

This is an exquisite, high class wine from Carlisle. Hefty and light at the same time - it balances the Grenache and Mourvedre beautifully. Absolutely a special wine from the great producers at Carlisle.

If you want the red fruit from this grenache, you're too late. A bit short on fruit already, primarily black currant, raspberry and plum on the nose, but palate is much more asphalt and tar. Stored at 55 since release, this particular wine did not age like their (long-aging) Zinfandels and syrahs.

Red fruit and peppery spice riding over sawdust on the nose. Bright fruit, acidity, pepperiness, and lots of rocky notes compete for attention on the palate. Angular tannins clamp down, add graphite and iron, then coast with oak and some dusty red fruit on the finish. Seems ready to roll!

No tasting notes to add since others covered so well. This is classic Carlisle but still unique and captures the beauty of Grenache. These are young vines, I’m sure, but this is excellence in the making. Tonight we paired with Sushi and Katsu Chicken w/soba noodles. Feel like the right Grenache can go with anything. Aerated with a Vinturi and decanted for one hour. Nose of red cherry, black raspberry, red licorice and bramble. Black raspberry, cherry, licorice and ripe tannins on the palate. Excellent depth with a long finish. Medium bodied. Served with grilled tuna with a green peppercorn cream sauce.

Medium garnet in color and nice intensity. Red fruit, spice and earth on nose. One the palate there was a sharpness that prevented the red fruit from being as forward as one might have appreciated. We finished the bottle the next evening and it was soft with beautiful red fruit-strawberry perhaps but also some cherry. I feel that this will be better after several years to mature. Early consumption requires a vigorous decanting to allow it to open.

Really elegant stuff. Pinot like in it's approach with classic Grenache strawberry on the finish. I think i may prefer these Carlisle wines in their youth.

Nose of red fruit and blood oranges and some floral and citrus peel notes. Red plum, cherry, and baking spice layer over the tongue and then wash into iron and rocks. Acidity, angular tannins, and earth with a hint of mushroom on the medium finish.

Carlisle is without a doubt one of the finest wineries from my home state, but the Grenache from Rossi Ranch in the Sonoma Valley has never quite lived up to its potential. This wine was a bit thin for my taste. (Think mixed berry koolaid). I was expecting more complexity coming from Carlisle. This was our first bottle of Grenache. Maybe the grapes were from young vines?
