Fontanabianca, Barbaresco, Sori Burdin

Wasn't sure what state this would be in, so did not decant in advance. There was a bit of funk on the initial nose but this blew off immediately after a few swirls and revealed a really lovely nose of dried petals, herbs, and dried fruit. Drinking beautifully now, but needs a LOT of air. Open, decant, don't rush it. Medium bodied, dark plum color, lovely nose and well-structured fruit notes, earthy smoke, but also a bit of mint. Nice.

Raiding the Cellar (Castagna) : tumeric, saffron, fenugreek, a bit of VA, grippy tannins, soy, shiitake, sweet Redman chewing tobacco. long.

Berries, picked up some leather on the nose. Great finish. Still great in 2014.

It was nicely Barbaresco-y.

Deep red-brown. Lovely scents of spicy rasberry and cherry. Tightly structured, but opens up to dark berries, vanilla, and tellicherry peppercorn. Could use a few more years, but was very drinkable.
