Weekly tasting group #187; Burgundy 2005 (@ VD) : The color still has a purple hue! Beautiful bouquet with red and dark forest fruits, some smoke, rustic flavors and a touch of celery. On the palate dark and red berries as well, salty licorice, a touch of bell pepper, minerals and white pepper. Beautiful acidity and soft, still sticky tannin. Red fruit acidity in the finish. Wait a few more years. Good length. 90 - 91 for tonight

Liquorice leapt out of the glass along with fruit and spice. More open and approachable than les cras but still youthful and muscular in the glass. Tannins are in abundance but don't overwhelm or dominate. F.A.B.
