Recently purchased directly from the winery in a library pack. Drinking beautifully right now at 12 years old. The nose is floral and inviting, and palate has nicely softened tannins and a medium-long finish. Exceeded expectations!

I go with a 95 because Trefethen is so consistent and I brought this to a party of 20 people for a special birthday and it outshines many big hitters…. Midnight ruby in colour, quite closed and a bit acidic when first poured with only subtle flavours of dry wood, fresh tobacco, red cherry. Very savoury, plenty of tannin, begins to open up and smoothen out the edges after a few minutes of air. Quite delicious indeed!

This one was a little disappointing for us. It wasn’t bad but it lacked deep flavor or complexity. We decanted it for an hour before drinking but it didn’t really open up, even as we left it to get more air. We went to the winery and they shared a 2013 magnum of this which was amazing. Left me to conclude that this one needs more aging

Beautiful nose of Creme de cassis, creosote and spice. Medium-full bodied with bright acidity and seamless tannins. This really shows the style and quality of the 2014 vintage in Napa. There’s a great seam of minerality running all the way through to the finish. Delicious now and has improved since release. Drink now-2024+. 92
