Glad I waited a little longer for this one, it didn’t disappoint, still lots of fruit and good tannins. Last of 2008 in the cellar.

12.5% ABV. Bottle filled bottom neck. The cork was intact, but crumbled despite using an Ah-so. Roasted red and dark berries, roasted cherry, earth, raisiny notes, nuts, roasted almond, earth, coffee, tobacco, spices, and balsamic notes, with good acidity, well-integrated tannin, and very good length. Popped and poured to toast my brother’s 40th birthday. The bottle was pristine and the cork was in outstanding condition, considering the age. A little dry but completely doing the job. Twelve years old but still many years of life ahead! Some bricking but this wine smells and feels like a much younger wine. Very aromatic nose of sour black cherry, herbs (oregano), worn saddle leather and tobacco leaf. In the mouth this is a huge, full-bodied wine. Decated for an hour, drank over another hour. It was outstanding! Tannins have soften up to a perfect state, they're still there. While being a dry wine, it does have a good acidity to it. Lots to like, but a bit of a strange tension between the aged secondary notes and the still-very-present primary ones. Tasted as if someone had poured a cup of Beaujolais nouveau into a 12yo Brunello. Evened out quite a bit on day 2, with primary notes fading and butterscotch emerging on the finish. Probably best with a 2+ hour decant.

Un Riserva encore en pleine forme. Élégant, racé, presque jeune. On sent encore un peu les tanins. Decanted for an hour. This was just singing, beautiful notes of violets and red cherry with a hint of barnyard on the nose. Initially a bit restrained on the palate, but with food and more air, the fruit came out, good red cherry and a good dose of tannins. In a very nice spot now, but could take a few more years in the cellar easily.

Decanted for a good hour. Cherries, blackfruits, tobacco, licorice, some smokiness. There's a very nice complexity and depth to this wine. It's in a good place right now but still has potential to improve.

This bootle seemed a little over the top, tasted a little tired. I have the strong impression my previous bottle consumed 1,5 years ago performed remarkably better. Drink now, I would say. Edit: better on day 2; the bitterness and astringency is gone. Bump up to 89.

This bottle was in surprisingly good shape, given its age - it did not seem tired at all. Good, mature colour without browning. Nose with faint berries and earthy notes. Medium length and still with a decent grip. Overall impression was shaded a bit by a slightly bitter element at the finish. By no means a great or complex wine but certainly enjoyable. Saturated cork, no sediment.

Tuscany (Le Petit Sommelier Restaurant) : From 375 ml bottle. Dark garnet. Fantastic nose that shouts "Tuscany" with espresso coffee, leather, morello cherry and earth. Med+ bodied, evolved but excellent fruit, soft tannins and balancibg acidity. Long aftertaste. Excellent Chianti Classico Riserva at its peak. Great value.

Dark ruby core with medium garnet rim. Great nose - beautifully integrated oak combined with slightly baked cherries, dried fruit, forrest aromas and some leather. At its peak!! The palate just confirmed that. Tannins fully melted, still structured, with great tasting mature ripe and dried fruit flavours, vanilla, oak and a bit of smoke character, long sweet bitter aftertaste. The heatwave of 2003 has definitely left its mark on this wine. Drinking greatly now, should be consumed this year. Cheers!

Sold to a buddy who subsequently brought to a dinner we attended. Only had a taste but reflections are that it was fruit forward, medium body and color and very drinkable. He and his wife loved the wine.
