D+0h: high-quality cork (not a pressed cork), a tiny bit of deposit in the filter, a big chunk and some deposit spray in the bottle, smells of blackberry and blackcurrant D+4h: purple red colour, smells of blackberry, raspberry, leather and in the background of dark chocolate, dry, but not in a harsh way, smooth in the mouth, medium body, in the mouth blackberry, leather, raspberry and dark chocolate, in the aftertaste raspberry, dark chocolate and acidity, good length (30 sec), …

A really enjoyable wine that I will get again. Excellent price point too, have scored it as high as 88 before, but this bottle, maybe due to age, storage or setting an 82 this time. Certainly showing some of it's age, duller, less brilliant in colour and a little more muted overall. Red currant, blackberry, anise seed on the (muted) nose. A wonderful palette of wet gravel, dusty, petrichor, cranberry, pomegranate, red berries. Surprisingly given the muted colour and nose …

Mash up of Rhône and Bordeaux character with a healthy splash of brett. Reasonably structured for a supposed soft and entry level wine; okay to drink but years of life left. Not boozy or overripe. Good wine for like spiced burgers/meat or other things with savory and smoky spices, or pizza etc. Solid value for $25. Definitely not boring. ~6.5/10

Not bad, not as good as I expected. I guess I paid a little more for it, bought it from a restaurant a few years ago because I had a glass and liked it. Also had it with pizza, as several others here did :-).

The '15 Musar Jeune is fairly tasty for an entry level Musar. This is a blend of 50% Cinsault, 30% Syrah and 20% Cab. There's some nice perfume notes with a bit of ripe red fruit on the nose. A bit rustic/old world on the tongue with black/blue fruit, a touch of earthiness, fairly well integrated tannins and medium acidity. Not overly complex but definitely quaffable. This went well with pizza.

Raisins, currant, dried fruit on the nose. The palette is dominated by raspberry and blueberry, with raisins, bitter chocolate, and hints of lychee. A medium length finish, the wine has well balanced but firm tannins. Excellent drinking, even without decanting. A real crowd pleaser.

Cranberries on the nose. Quite acid nose, if that makes any sense. Good acidity (also) on the palate, some tannins. Fresh and fruity, tart cherries. Very good, I bet it will improve in a few years.

Great work by Musar. This reminded me of an '09 St. Estèphe bottle I had almost on release. It doesn't try to be something it is not. It is slightly rustic on the nose, with slight funk that mellows down as time goes by but also a a solid amount of dark fruit blackcurrant, cassis, tobacco leaf, cigar box. On the palate things change. It is quite polished, very silky, tannins are rounded, a good amount of extract and acidity …

Clear medium ruby without any visible deposit, with thinner legs. Wine is clean on the nose with medium intensity. Distinctive primary notes of ripe blackberries, blueberries and red plum with a hint of white pepper and prune. This wine is youthful. Wine is dry on the palate with bright medium (+) acidity, medium alcohol and medium (+) tannin. With medium (+) body it has a medium (+) flavour intensity and similar primary flavours of ripe blackberries, red plum and blueberries, …

Musar Jeune is better than most "cheap" bottles at around $20 or so, but it packs a powerful punch that lacks the elegance of the best Chateau Musar offerings. Drink this when you want really bold, brooding flavors that will dominate whatever you are pairing it with. Lots of dark fruit and minerals on the nose and palate. Decently long finish, but it only plays with the volume turned to full blast. If you want something softer and more nuanced …

Great structure here — firm and aggressive tannin and ample, long acidity. Fruit character is ripe, loads of cherry, with some meaty and violet character as well.

Purchased in Poipu and paired with grilled burgers. Dark garnet. Nose of damp cellar, dark currant, earth, tapenade, black pepper. Surprisingly dense and delicious on the tongue with layers of smoky black currant, graphite, brier, pepper, and fecund earth. Firm but fine-grained tannin balancing freshening acidity. Moderately long finish of brambles, plum, and rocky soil. Very nice wine exhibiting reasonable QPR even with Kauai pricing.

Plum-skin color. On the nose, it’s understated but expressive, combining a variety of red and black fruit aromas with cedar, cigar box, tobacco leaf, and an appetizing savory meatiness. It strikes me as halfway between left-bank Bordeaux and northern Rhone syrah. I love it. Wow, on the palate, it’s very structured, with both high acid and very firm, gripping tannin. The fruit is there in the background, and there’s a little bit of the herbal and cedar character on the …

Weekly tasting group #070; a mixed set of red wines. (@ CvR) : Clear ruby red with a slightly carmine rim. The bouquet is fruity, but also a bit reticent. Creamy mouth feel with ripe red fruits, some sweet spices, vanilla and raspberries. A touch of sweetness, soft acidity and mild tannin. A nice, but not really exclusive wine.

This wine was rather impressive for the price. Nose was typical Musar nose of sweet cherries, and old concrete led me to think this was going to be a typical Musar. Light, almost gamay-esque color led to a soft, and somewhat flabby mouthfeel. Granted it had Musar qualities, but it lacked the earth-ness that I find so mesmerizing about the olders musars I have. Unfortunately, this wine just wasn't what I had expected it to be. I think of it …

(13.5%) 60% Cinsault, 20% Syrah, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon – For those not familiar with Chateau Musar this is the entry level of their three offerings. It doesn’t see any oak and is made for immediate release. For context the current vintage of their top estate wine right now is 2001. Warm fruit and spice on an inviting nose. Kerstdiner 2010 (Boxmeer) : Uiterlijk: Doof, steenrood. Dun parelend (7/10 intens). Geur: middelzware geur.

Dinner at Bistro du Vin (Bistro du Vin, Shaw House) : Fun, interesting wine to drink. Cinsault, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Really interesting nose, with high-toned spice and herb notes - I picked out cumin and parsley, along with savoury scents of dried earth, and some plums and prunes. Palate was more lithe and nubile than rich or concentrated. Again, I got flavours of prunes and plums dancing around sweeter red-fruited cherries and raspberries. There was a little cola on …
