Cabeças do Reguengo Respiro Seda Branco

White fruits and melon in the not so very expressive bouquet. On the palate minerals, bitterness, pineapple, lemon, herbs, good citrus acidity, round and a good length.

Finding this somewhat burgundian but it's missing some tension.

Savory, toothsome, lacking anything of note aromatically, but making up for it with texture, umami and citrus coating the sides of the tongue. Grippy for a white. This seems undervalued to me.

Day 1: Initially muscadet-like at cold temperature, then it opened up like new world pinot blanc. Both ripe and underripe pineapple. Lemon. Hint of pear, lychee, wet pebble and dairy. High volume of powdery gentle acidity. Initially bone dry but subtle alcohol sweetness comes in delay. Saline with some neutral viscous richness. Day 2: additional layer of coconut oil. Refreshing flinty yeastiness like bone-dry sake or fino sherry. Acidity getting more upfront and edgy. Tropical but sharp and dry. 88-89. …

Crisp, briny and lemony. A nice complement to scallops, corn and tomatoes.

I did not take contemporaneous notes on this, my second bottle; I don’t know if it was the bottle, the food or just me (or maybe my expectations), but this time I was not as impressed as when I had my first bottle. I enjoyed the wine with trout and a salad, but it didn’t make me think I really needed to have more. It’ll be interesting to see how the next one shows.

Whopping value in the bottle here. Round yellow fruits, very clean and direct, and with fantastic glycerin mouthfeel. Buying more of this tomorrow morning.
