I agree with the notes below. We enjoyed the 2019 and this is even better - remarkable value for the low price (hence my score) and an attractive mid-week wine. Opened 3-4 hours early. Good colour and fruit on the almost perfumed nose. Excellent cherry fruit on the palate with soft tannins and acidity. Excellent with food (pasta with an Italian sauce) but very good on its own. Indecently good for £6.49. Candidate for the best pound for pound wine in the UK? If you consider Fontodi and Bucerchiale to be a weekend treat then you might be pleasantly surprised by this as a midweek option. Everything Paul Dove says below, but no longer coarse or rustic now, has smoothed out.

New vintage for this often coarsely rustic but always interesting and authentic Lidl staple. And it's a definite thumbs up with nice cherry fruit, pretty rose petal and violet aromatics, dusky tannins and spice and a hint of leather. Still quite rough and rustic but, this year, in a good way.
