Elio Filippino, Langhe, Nebbiolo

Eleven years on this, though still tasting quite young, is now replacing a youthful energy with a more sophisticated complexity. There is a certain glycerol texture on the palate carrying really good depth to its fruit. Though it's not a Barolo, there is some greater interest to the fruit than previously. Mixed red berries. Balsamic. Still a very present tannic profile - touch drying. This has of course lost some freshness but is still a wine of character and authenticity. …

Absolutely fantastic and has room to improve from here. This is a classically styled Nebbiolo with medium tannins and a beguiling nose…one of the truly great values in the wine world.

Quite pale - medium dark red hue with early hints of orange at the rim. Simply beautiful nose - full of classic nebbiolo aromas - balsamic and rose and darkly mysterious. On the palate the fruit is sweetly ripe, quite complex with a perfect balance between berry flavors and savory elements. Full of bright acid and energy and freshness. The wine's acid makes it totally vibrant. The finish is marked by some drying and grippy tannins that take up residence …

Still a very nice Nebbiolo for the price. At the drink now point.

Medium bodied, moderately high acid, very ripe flavors.

Very Italian profile. Drier tannins, more on the translucent side. Brick color, lighter weight mouthfeel than expected. Served with good 'ol chicken parm and did its thing with the marinara. Very servicable, if not memorable, I would be very happy if this was a glass pour at a red sauce Italian restaurant. Ready now, but enough structure to hold a little longer.

Moderate nose smells of ripe fruits some hints of strawberry, high acid, medium+ body, lower tannis than I was hoping for.

This just keeps getting better. Intense tannins wrapped around deep crushed berry fruit, lovely nose and long finish. Mine won't live to reach their peak, which I'd guess will arrive about 2020.

nice nebbiolo aromas, well balanced and structured, very good. Could use more time in the bottle.

Really great langhe nebbiolo. Beautiful earthy dark fruited wine with herbs and a hint of bitterness. The tannins are still a bit sharp but eonderful wine. Went perfectly with a truffled mushroom porchetta sandwich at Terzo in Minneapolis.
