Vivid garnet-ruby with clear edges. Aromas of fresh red plum & ripe black cherry, black tea, star anise, sandalwood and loamy earth. Ripe cherry, blood orange & black raspberry fruit on the palate, with secondary five spice, crushed rock and dried hibiscus. Full and round through the middle, with supple density and moderate acid, finishing with fleshy broad-grained tannins and warm peppery length. Solid showing.

Décevant Rosso di M. Le Casanova di Nero est meilleur pour 5$ de plus. Si non le di Sopra aussi. Même le Ser Lapo est meilleur. Il n'ouvrira pas vraiment plus. Pas.mauvais mais à ce prix, j'éviterai. Je veux quand même essayer leur Brunello.

This is exactly what a Rosso di montalcino should do, and it’s got me excited for the 2019 vintage in Montalcino as a whole. I have a soft spot for Pian delle Vigne given the ‘16 was our wedding wine, and beat out a dozen other Rossi in a very thorough (and fun) elimination process. Medium minus intensity, slightly savoury, cherry, surprisingly low intensity nose. Palate better but not great, baked fruit, savoury, tight tannins, muted fruit. Alcohol warmth on the finish. Fruit persists. Hmm.

Pnp. More dark fruit on the nose and less tannic than a Chianti Classico, this can be opened now and enjoyed right away. The palate is a blend of cherry and strawberry. A great bottle for a weekday pasta night without giving you that "cellar defender" feeling.

Pours a dark ruby in the glass, had with Easter lunch. On the nose: vinous aromas, dark fruit, graphite or metal On the palate: dark fruit, cloves, no heavy oak influence but you can feel the alcohol on the back palate. Rustic, food friendly! Good stuff from Antinori

Well this is odd. We had a second bottle of this with a rooftop BBQ (after about 15 minutes of air, but not decanted) and it went down rather well. Very ripe dark red fruits on the nose , and these continue to the palate. For me this is too ripe and Parkerised, no elegance. Not a repeat buy for me at the ~US$21 I paid, although I can see that it might appeal to those that prefer big, unsubtle, in your face type wines. Solid effort and decent price for Friday PnP, while binge watching Netflix. Tannins need to smooth more so it needs one of, or some combo of, cellar time/decant/food. Which, of course, I knew as I bought it for pizza/pasta night, but got to that "should we go to bed or watch another episode and have a glass" point of the evening. We chose the latter and this was the only PnP I had left. 3 episodes later..........

Lige smagt 2016 med stor succes og måtte derfor også straks smage 2019. Og min konklusion er klar: lidt mindre finesse i 19’eren og jeg tror vinen vil samle sig lidt mere med 2-3 år i kælderen. Fin let reserveret næse som 2016 med lækre røde kirsebær, blåbær og søde hindbær efterfulgt af orangeskal, lavendel, hvid peber, sød lakrids samt tahitivanille.
