Dark straw color. Aroma - a bit of earthiness, mushroom, citrus. Taste - grapefruit, stone, touch of mushroom/fungus at finish.

Unconventional sauv blanc worth a spin for sure. Tested on well-aired bottle, 1-2 days at 60 deg F. Nose of musk, grass, just a hint of petrol. Fascinating balance of tame pear, lemon, and white nectarine plus savory juice like mildy toasted walnuts or chicken broth plus a rubber taste and perhaps a bit of salt. Finish fades of same. Sauvignon blanc. 13.5% abv. Body medium, acid medium. Good QPR. I'd buy another bottle.

Walker's Newport Tasting (The Spiced Pear) : I like this for the price. It's restrained, and not like every other SB. Nice clean fruit. Good. 86-87

SF Wine Exchange (Hotel Captain Cook) : Different in style. Has typical southern hemishpere nose of gooseberry, grass, citrus, but slightly floral. The palate is nice. Clean and crisp, but not as high acidity as NZ, but still with nice citrus. Like a brighter version of Sancerre. Finishes clean with a streak of minerality.
