Heymann-Lowenstein, Winninger Uhlen Riesling B Blaufusser Lay GG, Mosel

This has been so pleasant every time I have had it. Some maturity now, but really no rush. It somehow adds to the complexity of the wine.

Great wine. Very mineral. Great balance

Great whiff of petrol in the nose. Pretty broad and mature with white and yellow fruits, white stone, notes of salt. Quite mineral and a slight sweetness deriving from maturity. Crispy with acidity having the final say. Great! 92-93

This was sweeter than I expected, i.e. more in the 'old' style of HL. Round and rich with various fruits (apricot, peach, quince, lemon) alternating with a very strong minerality which I imagine to be blueish. A lovely wine, perfect now as HL's wines always seem to be.

At first it appeared closed and bitter. With air and higher temperature it showed a little CO2 and rich mineral aromas and a layered complex taste in the new drier style of HL. Wonderful stuff. Several days later, it is at once bitter, shows lots of minerality and soft white fruits. Somehow aromatically elusive and very much present in the mouth at the same time.

A bit hot at the end... Otherwise a lovely glass. Flinty and mineral. Juicy acidity.

Beautiful looking in the glass with little bubbles of CO2 reminding you that you have a dry Mosel riesling in front of you. Slightly closed at first but after an hour it reveals its luxurious and rich aromas.Apricot with a touch of smoke at first followed by floral and herbal expressions, honey and essential herbs. Cold cream on the nose, wet stones, flinty minerality. Not much fruit, steely, crystalline and pure and not overly powerful, almost delicate. Saline finish with great persistence. Amazing. 93-94+

The 2012 Heymann-Löwenstein Rieslings with Ewald Moseler (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR) : Ewald Moseler called this vineyard "The Montrachet of the Mosel." This particular wine offered tart, slightly metallic funky notes. The palate texture was smooth, with amazingly light texture. It's mouth watering, though... it feels like I have a mouth full of drool. Soft flavors of lemon. But that palate texture is just so interesting and unique.
