Not too acidic,
Taster #5845 · Dec 25, 2019
{cork} Clean nose; lemony with minimal yeast. Rather neutral palate, with large foamy and aggressive bubbles. Light/medium body, low/medium acid, shortish finish. Sound, workmanlike, not exciting.

Very good, substantial wine. 12.5% alc. Colour: lemon yellow Bouquet: citrus, granny smith apples, but also developed fruit character Palate: developed citrus fruit, toast, almonds, with great bead. May 2019

Decent wine this. A moderately bubbly mix of citrus rind and granny smith apple flavours balanced with a touch of toast and almonds. Not complex but excellent QPR.

Not bad, but there's a herbaceous, unripe character that spoils it slightly for me.

Tasted warm which may account for the fact that I didn't enjoy it so much this time. Similar notes to last time. It just lacked punch and character this time.

Very good given the modest price. Fine bubbles. Apples and freshly baked bread aromas. Enough complexity at this level. Perfect for a large party.

{cork, 12.5%, A$25} Straightforward champagne; a little yeast character, moderately fine bubbles. Not so light that it can't go with food, but not terribly complex in its flavours. The strong $A now has this at a price where it trumps similarly-priced local sparklings, that's for sure.

Drank after 2 bottles of Veuve. Not a fair comparison but was easily drinkable. As the cheapest champers on market worth a sniff.

{cork, 12.5%, A$35} Straightforward champers, with quite refined chardonnay-derived flavours & aromas, neither especially light nor heavy in body. There's a touch of yeasty character to the flavours; the bubbles are fairly small and quite refined. About the cheapest legitimate champagne you can buy in Oz; and although not a life-changer, it's not bad for the price. Medium-length of finish, although lacks much real interest.

Custard apple notes. Not long in length. Good drinking now.
