Deep, dark garnet color. Nose: stewed prunes, cloves, and cinnamon. Attack: Knott's Berry Farm boysenberry syrup (so good); Mid-palate: applesauce and raisins. Finish: Asian spice and some ground espresso beans. Full body. Long length.

FWS Languedob Roussillon Class (La Caille) : Banyuls also seems to offer such amazing values! Sadly notes were not taken, but this was delicious and already drinking well, but could likely go another 15 years

Pulled out for a rich chocolate dessert. Worked very well without being amazing. Popular with the table.

Very pleasant dessert wine, my first Banyuls; nose has plum, hints of raisin, dried blackberry, and some floral notes and just a hint of chocolate. The palate is sweet and rich, but has just enough acidity to keep it from feeling syrupy. Overall quite enjoyable. Would buy again.

Excellent pairing with chocolate Tort at LaV in Austin, TX. Smooth, balanced structure, with hints of sweet prunes and molases. Very much like a 20 year Tawny port. Much recommended

Fruity and velvety with a perfect rs level, allowing it to be savory as well.

No detailed note, but this showed very nicely, lots of simple but pure and very appealing grenache fruit and peppery spice, fine balance. An exceptional pairing with a sweet chocolate and mint dessert. Excellent value, to enjoy now.

PHMG WAG Paso Robles (Paso Lyon) : OK, this has nothing to do with the theme of the evening other than "ripe fruit". I would've loved to find a late harvest Zin from the right region for a Paso Robles tasting, but not so easy in Eugene. SO, this is still a crazy good wine and one of the best with chocolate. The black fruit, spice, underbrush, and tar notes sing with dark chocolate with caramel and pink Himalayan salt …

Candy, overipe almost rotting grenache fruit, raisin, tar and spice. Musky and rustic like Amarone or Valpolicella Ripasso just not as smooth. Interersting. Also brown sugar and orange.

Winebow Trade Tasting (Palomar Hotel) : I've always had trouble with Banyuls. This had a lot of tar and raisins...not my favorite style of wine.
